We just got our parakeet “Sky” a few days ago. Our first bird. She’s allowing us to hold her and pet her sometimes. The first day she was panting a lot. We figured she was nervous of us. I whistle really good and she’ll sit and listen to me and will join in often. I play this video for her a few times a day. It gets her excited. I’m hoping it’s making her feel good. She’ll sit in front of my 65” tv. I think she’s saying “you guys are the largest birds I’ve ever seen.” LOL!! The kids adore her. I wish I could load a photo.

This is amazing! I've found one outside on monday. I started to play the sounds yesterday and it seems to lift his spirits and ease the anxiety of a new home. He sometimes answers the chirps and it seems to lift his appetite. No one seems to be missing this little bugger, it's heartbreaking. I plan on keeping him, if I can't find the owner and looking for a partner then.

@@clguy86 if you can keep her/him, please bring her to a vet specialized in birds. Unfortunately not every vet knows how to properly take care of and very likely to kill them bc their anatomy is very different to mammals and budgies especially are very sensitive to medication and only need very miniscule amounts of it like 0.05ml or 0.01ml or another tiny number, depending on what they need. Also one other thing I learnt in that unplanned crash course by finding the hen is that they need at least one partner, but the more the merrier. In Australia they live in flocks up to millions of budgies, which is probably quite the sight. I had no knowledge if budgies and had to gather that information in a sort of crash course. Was thankful for the internet. I'm mean well and trying to help you and the little one out, in case you need it. If you can't keep the little one, maybe get in touch with shelters or facebook groups about budgies in your area. Sometimes there are people who rescue them etc. Maybe there's one near you. Wish you the best and keep us posted, if you can! 😊

Not only does this make my parakeet tweet, but the curtain also does. I rescued a parakeet from the backyard three days ago. He let out one chirp the day after in response to a finch in the tree outside my window, but that was it for the whole day.
