I not only play Dragon Quest Builders 2 a lot, but I got my family into the series. I really hope that they at least make it a trilogy, though Malroth will probably stay my favorite character.

DQB3 would likely be a prequel of some sort seeing how they spin off the first two DQB from the mainline series….

@@kywenmook284 actually, they could still add him since technically he was alive in the 3rd game, as it takes place before he was defeated by the three hero's. It would be nice to see a cameo of him, although it might be in his demon form.

@@caleviwin the problem is that there's a good chance we'd be in the World of Light for DQ3. DQ 1 and 2 take place entirely in the World of Darkness. Unless the plot is following the Heroes into the World of Darkness, and building the ramshackle villages living in fear under Zoma into the huge towns and kingdom that Loto's descendent would one day need to save in DQ1. And even then that's hundreds of years before the Malroth cult develops. Though it feels a lot more likely that we'd be undoing the damage in the World of Light during the war against Baramos. (though the big "new" mechanic would be including up to 4 man builder parties by default, with builder specializations (like you can spec as a magi-builder and use wands and staves to cast magical effects (and gets access to those recipes sooner than other builders would), or a priest builder with various heals and buffs, or the generic warrior builder which is similar to the current one but gets a few new tricks (if equipped with a shield, you can block to avoid some attacks), a thief builder that can dodge-roll and eventually unlock a double jump and specializes in ranged combat and bombs/traps. Everyone can technically use everything, so if a warrior builder found a wand, he could it's spell at it's normal level, but only those specific classes get the abilities to really enhance the spells, getting new techniques (such as a mage able to charge their wand to up to 2 times to make give a fireball wand an aoe explosion, or a frost wand freezing an enemy for longer or just being better using them as their level increases), and a drop in/out co-op campaign where instead of npcs, you can bring in other players, and maybe a couch co-op option for at least 2 players, where a 2nd player can take over the 2nd guy (or use a builder from another file) and turn the game split screen.

I want a DQB3 but I hope it actually continues the story of 2! You still have Malroth, and the builder, bit you don't NEED to play the 2nd game to understand the 3rd! But a lot need to be improved. Like having a much bigger party, and being able to have more Island Inhabitants. Not to mention more wiggle room in the room amount department, as I'm sure we've all encountered problems with that. Also. I REALLY hope they change that animals and monsters are part of your inhabitant count. Seperate categories is fine, but it gets incredibly hard to have the specific monsters you need, as well as enough animals, and villagers all at once.

I love Builders 1 and 2. I think my favorite thing about it is that unlike other games in the genre (that I've played at least), it holds your hand slightly in terms of what to do next. While you can freely build to your heart's content, things like blueprints and quests really help if you're struggling creatively. And of course, as a huge DQ fan, I love the enemy designs and the fact that I can build certain monuments and even whole towns from other games in the series. The story was also really great in that it made you feel like what you did mattered, and you weren't just building for the sake of building. Amazing games, and I would be so happy if they made a third.

Hey, Ben! Good luck with life stuff. I've been going through some things too, so I barely get to play anything on my PS4. In regards to DQB, hopefully Square realizes the potential of this series, and actually get some devs who are familiar with the voxel genre. Tons of stuff can still be improved upon. EDIT: Just bought DQ11S recently. It's been a while since I played a mainline DQ game! The last one I played was DQ9 and the remakes for the DS way back. Brings back a lot of fond memories.

@@jeremycmsmith I'll give 11 a try; its available on xbox game pass and I do like those sort of games (Final Fantasy, Alvastia, Kingdom Hearts) and saw you can play 11 in 2D or 3D which was interesting. I will probably like it so thanks for the recommendation.

I got to admit, i haven't been playing Dragon Quest games a lot except for the Dragon Quest Builders series and a android mobile game i can't remember the name of right now. It is still something on my todo list. But for the sake of my beloved fav builders games ...i filled that survey telling them i play dqb2 on a regular basis and i need a dqb3 xD

Crud. I missed out on the survey! But my idea on a third game would be an alternative reality of DQ4 where the world's civilization was wiped out, and reconstruction begins in Endor and going to different areas to find new recipes for crafting and regional materials. The twist? Necrosaro and the hero have switched bodies and have no memory of that event, but slowly remember who they were over time. The builder would rely on seeds for all stats, and the fighter gains XP to level up (maybe even learn new spells.)

I wish they'd make free build mode separated kind of like it was on the first game or on minecraft. you could generate worlds where you can build freely and have quite large areas so there could be different Dragon Quest style cities on the world and forest etc. between where monsters could spawn. I know it sounds like I want minecraft and technically yes I want best parts from minecraft mashed into best parts of Dragon Quest Builders.

I had to buy Builders 2 after getting a taste of the demo on Switch, just beat the story yesterday and I bought Dragon Quest 2 to play whenever I'm done messing around with building stuff. It'd be really neat to get a third Builders game! I remember playing Dragon Warrior on NES when I was very little, and just didn't understand how to play it. Never touched the series since but I want to give the RPGs another try.

Totally agree. I have a standing army that trains for no reason and plays cards in the barracks because monsters don't attack anymore.

DQB3 would be great. With a few improvements I'd love to see. -Better combat system. Slightly more dynamic. Dodge, roll, block, ranged etc. -Cut the repeat dialogue. The dialogue is so exhaustive that it makes me want to skip all of it. Not everyone playing these games are 10 yrs old and need to be told the same information 5 times by multiple characters ad nauseum.

I would love to be able to make builds for people not just to explore, but quest through. Give us the ability to lock doors and hide keys. Let us put loot in treasure chests. Give us a way to summon monster hordes. And perhaps most importantly: give us the ability to make our builds indestructible so players can't cheat their way through.

I hate overly handholdy games, even as a kid I learned the controls by pressing every button its my system and my reflex to help with muscle memory. This game over tutorializes everything and really made me wish there was just a builders mode or a quick trip through the story. I don't need to be told how traps work the word trap is fairly self explanatory, show me new features like assigning fields to specific crops aside from that just let me play.

Filled the survey out! I've never really liked building type games but I decided to try DQB2 because it was on Game Pass. Fell in love with it ever since and got my daughter addicted to it too! I have an idea for dragon quest builders 3, a sort of creative mode. Like maybe after you beat the game you unlock a 'my world' section when you start up the game. When you click on 'my world' it'll take you to a screen where You can make up to 7 "continents". You can determine there size, shape, biome, and name. The largest would be the size of one of the main islands in dqb2 and the smallest would be a little larger than the buildertopia islands. Also if you don't want to shape a continent you can just have the game randomize it. Then you can build on it and move people in from the base game or create new people with different profession and liked. It'll basically let you create whatever and do whatever. I know this kinda freedom can be overwhelming for some. But I think it would nice to have it regardless.

Iove this game. Just discovered it a few months ago. Just finished the story (I restarted from the beginning because I wanted to do some things on the story islands a bit different than the first time.). I'm playing around with building on a buildertopia. Once I get it completed and have all my villagers settled there, I'm going to start hitting the tablet targets on ioa. This game took all the best elements from Minecraft, animal crossing, the Sims, Stardew valley, and legend of Zelda and mashed them into the most perfect game ever. I would love to see a part three.

I've seen that survey pop up in my fb feed 3 times today (in the Dragon Quest Builders group, the Dragon Questers group and on the official DQ page), and I filled it out happily! On top of asking for DQB3, I asked for a DQIX remake on Switch since it's the only mainline DQ game that hasn't been remade yet, and it came out back in 2009 so it's about time it gets some love 🙃 I was wondering about the status on the whole booklet thing the other day but couldn't find any update. How's it going? Also I hope those real life things you mention you've been dealing with are resolved. If not, I hope they are soon so you can relax a little 😊
