Help My Cummins powered Doosan air compressor wont start

I got a call to take a look at an air compressor that would crank but not start.
Once again you need to get the whole story then it all makes sense. Take a look and discover how to deal with this scr related problem.

Hi Alex, was wondering how you actually turn on the “build air” button. We are sitting at 55psi which is what yours sat at until you hit the button to get it to 125psi. We are lost.

Hey Joe I have a 2012 doosan compressor. Kubota diesel. The machine cranks and starts but it won't build pressure. I checked the valve it does indeed open up. No air comes out the outlet. Was wondering what you would think it was

Hi David I have very limited knowledge on the compressor part of the machine. If you know the compressor is turning ( drive coupler is intact) it has to be the control system. I would search YT for model year, manufacturer for clues. Google search is sometimes helpful as well.

INSITE and it is for the engine. This engine because of the machine it is in had a special software restart counter that had to be reset. That was all in the cummins engine ecm and cummins software. Most engines do not have this counter

Hey joe, i have a similar compressor with the 3.8 cummins. I started it after an hour with the block heater in (was very cold) and it started and ran fine. Let it warm up before i started it up (about a half hour) and then hit the service air. It was fine for a while, then started bogging down a bunch, then the coupler burned out. Im wondering if it was the chicken or the egg. Was it bogging down because of the couple coming apart, or did engine issues cause the coupler to tear. Thanks!

Make sure the compressor is ok. Was the oil tank for the compressor warmed up in some way. Never say never but I have never seen an engine cause the compressor or coupler to fail. I have seen torn up couplers but most of the time there was another reason that the coupler failed. I am thinking the compressor, If the oil tank for it was not warmed up before start up, was starved for lubrication because of the cold oils viscosity. If your compressor has an oil pump make sure you inspect it. Let us know what you find.

Hey Joe, we have this high air end temperature error for months already and I don’t know what else to check into this machine. The compressor is Doosan HP 375. Oil and filter is new, fan is turning in the right direction(blowing out), and the cooler seem working properly. I wanted to check further but I do not have enough resources to do that. I hope you can help me with this since you worked a lot on this kind of machines. Thank you in advance!

If it is an engine fault it could be a sensor that is in the clean air intake piping. It bolts into the side. The air filter hail mary foam pads were coming apart and the foam contaminated the sensor which just sits in the air stream. If it is the compressor air end I don't know.

Hey Joe, have you ever seen a CPR 252 keypad comms code? The power button on the control panel has to be pushed and held in for the screen to power up and as soon as you release the power button it completely shuts off. Tried finding troubleshooting steps but can’t find anything.

No I have not but it sounds like the IC in the controller is not latching. If the key pad is separate from the module it is probably a failed module. Now I think this because of working with latching IC's or FlipFlops. The fact that you said you have to hold it in to keep it powered up usually means a failed module. Do check the power and grounds before you buy parts and This is my opinion Not something I know for sure.

I need more information. Describe what is happening in detail and let me know what your working on. I think it is an air compressor driven by a diesel engine and the engine is starting after it shuts down? Is that correct?
