Great video, love your stuff. Could you do a video about how to do corrections when your pup makes mistakes or the owner makes mistakes. Like say your practice not grabbing trash in the home and yard but when you go to the next level he starts picking stuff up and making mistakes how do you correct them properly?

Thanks. Very helpful. My English is an always 💩 hunter, occasional 💩 eater (not her own) on walks. We tried bitter apple spray to dissuade her but eventually realized a dog that eats 💩 would probably accept a little bitter spray... she’s also incredibly fast and adept at finding it before we see it. Any tips on good technique to use in that scenario? Enjoying your videos from Oregon!

Stonnie , you just hit on a problem I am having with my service dog. Remington is a really good looking dog so every where we go people want to talk to him or pet him. I always tell people that he is working and I'm sorry but you can't do that. How can I make him listen to me better and not everyone else that make noises at him or reach towards him? PLEASE HELP!

Hey Stonnie, I love your videos and training style, it's amazing how focused and attentive you can get even really young pups. My black lab pup of 12-13 weeks is really smart and really excitable. He learns fast and we have taught him sit, down, go in your crate, fetch, touch, off, comes to his name, leave and wait - he knows what to do to get those treats, he's even walking quite well on leash too! There's still some parts we're trying to get out of his system though, I wonder if you can help point us in the right direction. 1. Petting and biting - he doesn't seem to like it that much at all, he nips alot if you touch him, although, with a treat in your hand he lets you do it, but if he's playing and you pet him, he sometimes bites - not hard and not really agressive, more like a play bite but he knows the petting stops when he does it and its like that's what he wants. He is making improvements where he doesn't bite our clothes or randomly play bite us as much, but I just want him to accept that fuss a little better, even if he doesn't like it that much! 2. When something really fascinates him, all that training goes out the window and not even treats get his attention, sometimes stuff left on the sofa like a remote. It's like he knows it's forbidden, but if he gets the opportunity he'll grab it and run away and doesn't listen. I try not to chase but it's really hard not to get him to run away with it even with a treat.

labrador is the most sustainable puppy. they eat everything. :-) and they are smart enough to not to eat while you are watching them. but they do once you are away.

Those "bums" could be homeless vets with PTSD
@StonnieDennis
@StonnieDennis 5 жыл бұрын
Or they could just be bums...I'm not really into making excuses for people. I know a whole lot of people that have been dealt some very bad hands by life. None of them roam around littering, stealing, and harassing.

@@StonnieDennis Have you ever worked with psychologically damaged veterans? ... because I have (mainly in lockdown settings and littering is the least of their worries. It's such a bad mindset to just use words like bums -- it allows us to turn people into things. You can't begin to imagine how the human brain works when it's been damaged -- I hope you never have to have that experience. I've worked in poverty programs for many years as well as volunteering in overflow homeless shelters -- being kind goes a much longer way than being dismissive -- you might know the majority of people dealt a bad hand who make it through without ending up on the streets and being disruptive to society. I have found it much more productive to work to solve the problems than to be so unkind. Kindness goes a long way.
@StonnieDennis
@StonnieDennis 5 жыл бұрын
@@gusdagoosesmom4902 I use what I consider to be appropriate descriptors; bum is an appropriate term for people that refuse to work, steal, litter, beg, vandalize, make other types of trouble. I know all about mindsets; especially the type of mindset that coddles anti social and irresponsible behavior. Why in the world would you be so presumptuous as to assume that you have some type of insight into what I can and cannot imagine or what I know about being dealt a bad hand in life. As far as what you, and other people like you, have found to be productive, I would humbly ask what metrics you are using to measure productivity. Because all I see is the bum problem getting worse every day. Have you solved that type of problem where you live?
