I'm planting trees and life in my campervan while working. I would love to have one of these batteries to store my excess solar. So in my case, the bigger the battery the better. Thanks for all your great videos mate. Take care.

As you say it’s the one that works for you. I have the Ac200 and use it all the time. I have a big “garden” , so it’s very useful for jobs away from the house. Definitely heavy, but I like the inverter size. Use it if I’m using power tools, heaters etc etc. also like to use it on days out, powering a fridge, iSUP pumps and even a fan on hot days. It’s also very handy in a power Cut. I agree very heavy, I’m obviously more buff 😂, but seriously I could probably also do with a lighter one as well as it’s overkill sometimes.

I have donated a couple of Bluetti power stations and expansion batteries to my church for their events and festivals....especially nice to power their band mics and amps. In addition to giving away a unit to a subscriber, you might think about donating some of the units you don't use that much anymore to an organization of your choice that could use them. Just a thought. Cheers!

put it to a vote , give away the one you don’t use , keep the biggest capacity purely because of a disaster or a off grid project ! I have a river max good for charging stuff and always solar charge it , would like a micro wind charger project for it !

You have portable batteries like most of us have AA cells! Open any drawer and a few roll around! I like the idea of being able to power tools without needing an extension lead to be trailing around the garden or even around the house when decorating etc. perhaps even a very small one to keep the camping fridge running en-route or when we have power cuts on site (we lost power for 3 hours in 30+ degree heat a couple of years ago. Something small and powerful, lightweight but high capacity. Need a flux capacitor I think!! I agree with you on the aesthetics. The really good looking one is great but I think that is the one that uses both ends in a rather impractical way. Sounds like that is the one you should dispose of. I’d be happy to test it for you if you sent it my way! 😉

Watching your video made me think about how others could benefit, not myself. I was considering a battery as my friend moved into a caravan and pays the site owner 40p per kwh. A battery connected to solar would be a no brainer in that situation for her. I then thought about the Scout Group I am a part of. We have 200 young people, which means a lot of camping. We currently use diesel generators for lighting and charging etc, but that is not the nicest sound to have humming in the background and does not meet our environmental goals. One of the larger batteries could meet our needs on a weekend, as the main use is at night to light up mess tents etc. We could consider some solar to add to it too. I would love to at least experiment with one to see how it performs on a camp scenario. Great video as ever, and actually gave me a use case for these types of batteries.

For a portable battery it is super important that the inverter can deliver the full 230v 13A because that means you are ready to power anything that you have in the house. So you don't need to plan what you might need it for.

At 250v that's over 3kw. How many appliances actually consume that . I have none with a plug on them More power is always good but at the expense of weight and cost it's not ideal for all portable batteries to be so large ...just my opinion of course

This is one of the best reviews of multiple products I’ve seen because it’s based on what you actually use, rather than features. Thank you. As for which one to give away/sell … if I were you it would have to be the large Bluetti. You don’t use it and the company are sending you the newer version to test - absolutely no reason to keep it. As for which one I would choose, probably one of the two large units. We’re soon getting solar, but I’m not sure whether we can afford batteries at the start. We do get power cuts, though, and we have an aquarium, so something to get us through a couple of hours would be ideal. Thanks again, I enjoy your channel (it has been very informative on my solar ‘journey’).

Great video on a number of 'batteries' in one. If you are going to give away one I would give away the least used one, I would use one for outdoor power tools and as an emergency power supply for my pond to keep it filtered and oxygenated. Great to hear your uses as they are a sizable investment and I wouldn't want to buy the wrong one. Thanks.

Clearly these batteries are designed for different use cases. The bigger batteries are fantastic for camping and converted vans where they can massively simplify electrical installs. They enable you to run lots of stuff for days when away on a weekend trip. I would personally use one of the big batteries the most for this very reason in my campervan. All the smaller batteries you are using for home jobs I would just use a wall socket and an extension cable

When you say "You use the smaller ones more even though they're less practical", I'd argue they're more practical due to their smaller form factor. The larger ones obviously have the capacity and load advantage, but how often do you need that from a portable supply? Yes there are use cases (camping, areas prone to powercuts perhaps) but otherwise I'd rather have two of the smaller ones :) As for which to give away, I'd suggest whichever one you're not using and is taking up the most room

My wants would be 1kW to 2kW battery capacity, 1.5kW AC continuous output, 18vdc to 70vdc solar with up to 600w input and regulated 12vdc output, My nice to have would be wireless charging, multiple 13 Amp outlets, a smartphone app, light, and reasonable weight although I would not be moving it about much. With this type of specification I could use in my garage/shed to fulfil my use cases and have the ability to make life a lot easier if there was a power outage. Brian

Definitely give away the one you use least- it's obvious! Personally, my use for a portable battery would be to power my garden tools- lawnmower, hedge trimmer; to provide a light and power in my shed at the bottom of the garden; to provide occasional heat in my greenhouse; and to enable us to make a nice hot coffee on days out.

I killed my inverter in my ALLPOWERS Portable 288Wh Power Station after just a few weeks of having it back in July 2020. My mistake as the grid and power bank electric got mixed together. I got another one and took out the battery from the broken one and found a way to add it to the replacement giving me 576Wh of storage. I was surprised to see the battery was only 11.5 volts, maybe that is why you have problems with big loads as the voltage will drop very quickly below the minimum amount needed. I still use it collecting the power from 300 watts of solar panels on top of my old work van and then plug it into my home Victron 24/3000 multi plus 2 inverter after sunset. If the power goes over about 300watts it will shut down for about 30 seconds, the house battery taking over and then it will restart. If the fridge freezer comes on it will shut down, restart and then run the fridge freezer, computer, TV for a few hours or so. I could do with more storage as lots of my van solar power is still lost. If you wanted to give away your broken Allpowers S1500, I could use it to save and use more power from my van solar panels. I would have to open it up and look to see what batteries are in it to find a way to use it. I do have an old 1000w inverter I could use with the batteries from the broken Allpowers S1500. Maybe I could do a short video of what I have done with it and send it to you. As I needed to stop working due to problems with my feet I am trying to save as much money, living on my savings this past year.

If smaller EcoFlow battery meets your needs better, then go ahead and choose that one. 'Portable' PowerStation by virtue designed to be portable batteries, but some models are more portable than others. So, if the smaller one suits your needs and is more convenient for you to carry around, it might be the better choice. i'm saving up for a "DIY plug in grid tied Solar PV & battery system" inspired by yourself to supplement our solar panels, hoping to get the micro first then save up the following year for the battery :)

I believe the smaller ones around 1kWh are very usable as they are easier to move about and therefore you make far more use of them. The large ones are great for moving about for camping or travel to power a small portable frige in your car. Or again, a larger battery is useful in a garage or shed, disconnected from the mains. Definately keep the ones that are smaller as they are the ones you do actually use. It would be a fantastic giveaway item. Clicked the like button straight away!!!

You deserve to profit from your endeavours in helping the solar community so perhaps sell the larger more expensive batteries. I would love to give my elderly father one of the allpower batteries as he lives in a self converted BT van. Has done for 20 years. Either would be light enough for him to use, charge through solar or 12v when driving and also give him enough power to run an oil radiator when its cold in winter, cook with his air fryer or run the fridge overnight on electric, saving him money on gas. Keep up the good work.

I think your usage is probably typical of many people. The first instinct is to think of ways you could use the big powerful unit. Yes I could use it with my corded power tools but that would be half a dozen times a year. So I probably wouldn't get the value from it. I'm not sure I would use it for camping either really as it takes away what camping is all about for me. The smaller ones make more sense for me. I can take it in the garden to plug my radio in (inbuilt battery doesn't last long now) and a light in the summer evening. Handy for emergency things in a power cut (but pretty rare here). If I'm honest I would probably use it regularly to plug the TV in between 4-7pm to avoid the higher prices on Agile before cooking dinner at 7pm! 😂

As ever, it's horses for courses. The small/medium would suit indoor general usage, the larger ones would suit a builder, on site with no utilities. I've seen some of the larger ones on wheels, like a suitcase, but stronger. Anker do one that another YT channel, Camp Out West, use to run a washing machine and tumble dryer in a wash-house, off-grid style. 25 years ago we had a flower stall on a street corner and used a PowerBank and inverter to run a till and some 60w lights. Same size as a small car battery, orange and grey as I recall, worked very well for an early version of these. A medium to large sized version of one of your selection would have been perfect for us, back then.

I don't have a portable battery but have been thinking about getting one for a while when they are on offer as they are quite expensive for what they are. I think that, as you said, the balance between having enough storage vs being more portable is the key. My use would be mainly for garden equipment to avoid having to use extension leads, and occasionally for when going out somewhere, such as for a walk or picnic where I would want a power source for something like boiling a kettle. I liked your earlier video about the EcoFlow unit with the inverter as that would possibly be a great way to compliment my home solar panel, but they don't seem to be selling that inverter any more.

Hi NIgel: interesting video, especially as I have been trying to work out how best to heat my wife’s studio/shed. We have a PV system, batteries, and heat pump, but haven’t up until now worked out a cost effective way that I can use that takes advantage of our time of use tariff to harvest the energy that could be used to run a heater when she is working. Hearing that the larger batteries can do this for a reasonable amount of time has got me interested. For you, the weight and portability is an issue. For my use case, this doesn’t really matter, so if you want to give away any of the largest capacity batteries that can do the job, I’m definitely interested - hell I might even be happy to pay something!!

@EVPuzzle I think I would personally go for the Ecoflow Delta 2 Max. I would see this as an investment, the ability to add additional batteries, the battery tech and the 3000 cycles and the ability to add on of their grid-tie inverters has sold this model for me...Just need to save up 😆

Interesting. You've made me wonder whether this sort of devices could power driveway gates. There's no mains power available so far from the house and the gates would only operate perhaps 2/3 times per day. Could be recharged overnight - or maybe solar panels could keep it topped up. Thanks.
@EVPuzzle
@EVPuzzle 4 ай бұрын
It'd be a lot cheaper than running power there. Motors for gates probably in the region 500-800w and operate for say 30seconds each opening , that's not a lot of power . The be honest the standby power use would be higher but with a solar panel connected you'd be good

Personal, you seem to loves the river. I would personal recommend you keep that one. I am debating whether or not to buy one as i need power for tools at the allotment and wanted to get a water pump so i dont have to use a watering can to move water from barrels collected on the shed to the barrels and ibc tank on the other side of the allotment. Not sure on which one you should give away but i would probably go with a middle of the range model as it mobile and portable and will power most things. What's your opinion on the portability for the s1300 i think it was or s2000 or the delta, i am currently looking at the ecoflow delta max but i am not sure how to justify the cost to the other half 😅 and is the ecoflow portable or is it heavy and awkward?

I reckon the one you’re looking to move on is the ‘Allpower 1500’ Because the first one gave up on you, and even tho it was replaced the old adage of ‘once bitten twice shy’ is obviously in the back of your mind all the time. I’d be happy with any of them as they’d all be great for recharging my cordless tools and EGO lawnmower when I’m out doing small jobs in our village for the old folks who are afraid of employing ‘tradesmen’ for fear of being ripped off. But what I’d REALLY like is…. your T shirt 😂

Really strange that your Ecoflow River 2 Pro battery doesn't handle your dehumidifier. I have one of the original Ecoflow River batteries which I think is 700W and smaller than yours, although it does have a peak surge capability over 1kW (I can't remember the precise specs). I love it because it is light enough for me to carry upstairs (as an older woman) and has a comfortable handle on top. My primary use for it is to power my Meaco dehumidifier, particularly in winter, to dry washing indoors. It will run the dehumidifier for about 3 hours on a full charge and I have never had the slightest problem with doing this.

If you are giving away the Bluetti I'll have it, I have two solar panels on my shed hooked up to a Victron charge controller and inverter and two aging lead acid batteries. I use it all the time for charging my ebikes and power tool batteries. The lead acid batteries are struggling a bit now they been out there for 6 years I think and was thinking I would change it for something like this and my brother in law who also has a shed with no power keeps pestering me to set up the same for him nothing will be wasted all I need is some more solar panels from somewhere :)

I’m new to all this but watch your “uk” channel for several years now, but I’m in the middle of a divorce and have not yet made a purchase but will when I move home. And as you quite rightly say as new one come out, what should you get? I’m also concerned about servicing the product in the UK too, seems they want to sell them but don’t seem to good in servicing, love to hear what you think? I like the look of the delta product, but blueetti being waterproof could be a good buy as does the Anker, but seem a little behind in the uk? But the product I have used are small power banks are Anker which are very good for my photography usages. Think I’d be happy to receive the Delta 2 pro if you really don’t need it. Here is what I need power for: Cpap machine, air purifiers, led night lights for the bedroom and phone/tablet charging, your advice would be welcome?
