One tip for filling gaps in wood - mix PVA glue with the fluffy sanded wood dust. Fill the holes. Allow to dry and then sand. The pva will dry clear and the wood dust will blend in very well. But great job regardless! The project turned out great! 😊

Hello Becca and Chris. Becca is amazing., Everything she does is amazing. There is nothing that Becca can't do. Becca is such a professional. Becca is great at teaching us DIY. In fact, Becca is Superwoman. Becca your floor hatch looks amazing. Chris you are amazing too. You and the Titan looked amazing together. Loved the Titan Montage with all the effects added, you are an excellent editor and so very creative. I liked the way you cleaned the cratch covers, to make it a more special place for Mummy and Daddy spiders to have their children. The trouble is, The Mommy Spider then eats the Daddy Spider once the babies arrive. There must be a moral in there somewhere. So if you see loads of Baby Spider shortly, you will know that most of the Adult Spiders you see will be lady Spiders. Excellent Vlog. Thank you both very much. All the best. Spoolbox

If you don't want to buy a proper doweling jig, make a dowel-and-dirty one by cutting a small thick block of hardwood that you slide across the edge of your board. Drill through the block at the proper dowel height for your edge and then use it as a guide to drill the dowel holes. The thickness of the block can set the hole depth as well.

When you live with a star like Bex you have to adjust to life in her shadow. You guys are definitely coming up in the world. The ads always used to be for various tawdry forgettable things (and to be honest, most of them still are), but the algorithms don't lie. Last week featured an ad for Rona (a Canadian version of something like an upscale B & Q). This week, it's Lee Valley Tools. Another Canadian retailer, but a highly respected one that offers all kinds of amazing woodworking tools. I realize the ads that appear have to do with subject, but when the You Tube gods connect (or confuse?) the Amazing Crobots with fine woodworking, it can't help but be a good thing. Lee Valley would be a candy shop for Bex.

Bex I thought you'd use glue mixed with sawdust to fill the gaps then after it was dry you'd sand it smooth. But this is probably a better job!
@TheNomadicCrobot9 ай бұрын
That's a great way to do it but I felt the gaps were just too big!! Thanks so much 😊
@malcolmone19 ай бұрын
you got gaps because you marked the dowel holes wrong ,before taking it apart you should have marked a line across both pieces of wood,at the same time and marking it with a/a b/b etc so sides match up , ,so when taking it apart and you drilled the holes r holes would have lined up ,,a slight measuring mistake gets magnified ,you need a profession in lol
@TheNomadicCrobot9 ай бұрын
This is very true!! Trouble is the several of the edge pieces were pretty much hanging off so weren't in the fully correct position anyway, plus I didn't actually think to do that at the time too 🤣😉 Who needs a professional!!! Haha!!! Gives me a chance to learn and improve on my limited skills!! 😜
@YaaLFH9 ай бұрын
Bex: get yourself a dowel jig, and a pocket hole jig while you're at it. They will make your life much easier. There are special machines for that but they're EX-PEN-SI-VE (don't look at the price of Festool Domino Jointer). Might consider a cheap biscuit jointer if you're planning on building much more furniture. And I'll repeat the tip for for filling holes: once you put glue in the holes, get the sander and sand the area while the glue is still wet - this will push sawdust into the glue and make the filling much less visible. Chris: I need your opinion on Titan bars from Aldi.
@TheNomadicCrobot9 ай бұрын

@@TheNomadicCrobot The Titan bar is a good approximation of a Mars, just cheaper and named after the mighty Titan of course - think of it as a tribute, not comparison 😁 I'm waiting for the rest of the calirifier story, a pocket hole jig would be useful for that!

@TheNomadicCrobot9 ай бұрын
I did try using some clamps to close the gaps but I couldn't get them to sit correctly. I think because some of the wood had been cut by jigsaw as at the time of originally doing it I didn't have a mitre saw they weren't completely straight edges which contributed to the gaps and thus wouldn't fully pull together. Always much harder doing things retrospectively!!! Hahaha!!! On it!!! 🤣
