Keyless Entry in my opinion is one of the worse inventions to come to modern cars, making them far easier to steal, what are other peoples thoughts on it? I personally disable it on cars if I have the choice!

with UWB keys's it's fine in my opinion, as the car can truly tell how far away the key is and relay attacks can't work.

@@Gibbo205 It can't, the distance measurement can not be brought closer by relaying, so as long as the key is outside unlock range it will not unlock or start - infact if anything, relaying will make the key seem further away.

@@Gibbo205 Indeed it has, but It certainly doesn't hurt to be cautious and personal choice is of course personal choice. UWB keys are still far from ubiquitous and still mostly on higher end cars but slowly widening in popularity, so certainly if don't have a UWB type key ( I'm not sure e.g. Toyota use them yet on anything ), then relay attacks are indeed a very real threat still and sensible to turn off or use faraday storage, or both.

It's great that you can toggle it, I have hated keyless entry from day 1.

Nice to see it has an option to turn this off permanently. There are too many car drivers assists these days - all turned on by default; and those which have an off option only turn back on again when you restart the engine. Off should be off!

Lots of bad stuff on cars these days that no owners ever wanted and hence why everyone just turns them off.

Great idea. However, what if the car stalls? Do you have to show the key to the star button again?

Keyless entry is the most unessecary and not needed thing they have ever installed on a car. It's like saying to car thieves, spread open and welcome....

You can disable the key from the keyring by keeping your finger on the lock button and pressing unlock twice. It will blink twice and the keyring will no longer transmit until its pressed again.

very cool explanatory video. love your vids so far and congrats on the new GR Yaris MK2!. I found also a very good way to stop the car from being started and is basically take the fuel pump fuse out of the fuse box from the car. Is quite rudimentary and although it may not stop from people entering the car it will certainly stop them from stealing your car (same like installing a hidden cut off switch somewhere inside the car and definately trickier than finding the hidden switch by pure luck haha) :).

Great idea, I do this with my old BMW E30, pull the fuel pump fuse so even if someone gets in and starts it the car will cut out in a few seconds. Great tip and easy just been a fuse, takes seconds.

@@Gibbo205 yeah, I agree, is just people cannot be bothered to open the bonnet and pull it for overnight. I do this on my MX-5 NC. I have have ordered a factory ND and will come in the next month an a half and I'm going to get a faraday pouch as well just in case.😅 i think when it comes to sports car / enthusiast cars having the 'luxury' of having keyless entry fitted is quite pointless in my opinion.

Is still a good idea as the key is still transmitting and they cost very little

It certainly helps, watch my video you can see with the key in the pouch I can unlock the car, so the pouch is blocking the signal with keyless entry enabled.

Keeping the key in a metal box also prevents battery going flat. Otherwise key and tye car kero the communication open, draining the battery.

TLDR. Press and hold lock, then double click unlock. Key goes dumb. Functions as intended the rest of the time.
