In this video I talk about how cars are exploding with so called safety systems that no owner has asked for and for many don't want, particular motoring enthusiast.
This videos shows you how to disable with just one button press systems like Lane Assistance which numbs and corrupts steering, pre collision systems which are designed to brake in emergencies but can also just slam the brakes on at random.
Finally of course the Speed Limiter Warning system and we discuss with all this additional technology which we have not wanted and hence why majority of owners who get in their cars the first thing they do is turn all this technology off.
Problem is this technology is more annoying than safe, it is not like invention of seat belts, air bags, ABS, traction control which genuinely can save lives and prevent accidents most of this new technology is just annoying and is vastly increasing the cost of the new cars.

Just picked up my Gen 2. That LDA is an absolute pain in the ass. To switch it off completely, you have to switch it off every time you get in the car and start it up. I agree with you. A lot of this 'safety' tech is invasive and unnecessary, particularly in what is classed as a performance car, that attracts generally more aware and better drivers. Enough to make a person want to go back in time

More annoying nanny stuff to turn off each time you start it. Having to open different windows to turn stuff off. It’s becoming more of a GrrrrYaris (said through gritted teeth). I bought my Gen 1 as a fun every day driver, not as a track day car. Cancelling lane keeping assist, setting rear bias for the 4wd (or 50:50 when wet), and engaging iMB (rev matching - I think it’s brilliant) each time I start it is tolerable. Any more would be frustrating. I think I will stick with my Gen 1. It’s great fun to drive.

Agreed, all the stuff none of us asked for in performance cars. If governments were to be believed how did we ever survive in our cars from the 80's and 90's, seemed to cope just fine IMHO, we welcomed technologies such as ABS, traction/stability control as they generally enhanced driving experience and seat belts improved safety. But now they just seem to be going too far, adding additional cost and additional weight all for items as enthusiast we just turn off. The biggest crime will be when you cannot de-activate such stuff on even newer cars potentially from 2030 onwards.

Did exactly same thing, hunted down how to turn the noises off. Problem is, same on all new cars since July this year, safety laws😑. You used to be able to turn it all off and would stay off. Now resets everytime you turn the engine on.

Thankfully it takes me like two seconds to turn all of and set the car how I like so not end of world. Problem is we’re all paying extra for this stuff which we don’t want.

It won't take long before chip tuning companies (like they are generally called) find a solution for this. There is less and less money to be earned with typical chip tuning as cars get not that limited anymore from the manufacturer. Witin a short time more money is being won by those clever ECU wizards in deleting all sorts of (obligatory) warnings and unnecessary safety features. Personally I absolutely hate them.... I want to drive my car myself, not being puppeteered by 560 MB of stupid ECU trickery. That is maybe why I still drive my 25 year old Impreza Turbo.... bought new, never will sell it...

@@flat4-agreed as I say in video all this tech is been forced upon us and we’re also having to pay extra for tech we never asked for and it adds unnecessary weight to a car.

We now also have an app update, able to start and lock the car with your phone, technically safer than the keyfobbery. I also turned off the keyless start/entry using he keyfob, its simply unsafe to leave it on TBH The thing that annoyed me the most was the hidden lane assist in any mode but expert, with the car pushing your steering wheel. That stuff is not only annoying, it's especially dangerous on our 60Kph roads, where the road lining is about a meter into the road from the sides. The car gets very confused and constantly tries to push you towards the center into oncoming traffic. With hidden lane assist I mean, you assume you've turned it off using the button on your steering wheel. But oh no, it's still very much on and blips on and off in certain situations to catch you off guard Ridiculous useless office jockeys in Brussels forcing car manufacturers to add these useless and dangerous features for so called safety... Even the car manufacturers have told them its distracting and simply unsafe. Not to mention the speed indicator cameras tend to wrongly pick up speed signs on adjacent roads. But no, politicians and the lack of any form of expertise in the field pushed it through because reasons... On a more positive note, car is great I have the pearl white with red interior accents (still the only one on the roads in the Netherlands for a few more weeks) and going to get my new rims this Wednesday, and the MFF flaps just arrived as well! How are you enjoying yours hehe?😁

@@Gibbo205 I've only test driven the original GRY they had at the dealership, while waiting on the new one. But even based on that limited experience, this one does seems quite a lot more dialed in Also I just found something else today, fiddling with the thing. In normal and eco mode you can turn off the TRC and lane assist using the same method. But after a certain mount of time while driving, it seems to turn them back on in these modes...

Did you watch all video? I explained I was offered overs but with the gen2 been better than expected I’ve decided to keep the car as it’s better than expected.
