These tips really work! My June baby hasn’t shown interest in rolling for weeks, then within about a couple weeks of practicing Tip 1 with her, she started to roll from back to belly - today, at 4.5 months! I could tell she enjoyed this exercise too, she would smile and start working her muscles every time we got into position as if she knows ☺️ It also helped to have our high contrast images booklet propped up behind her head when laying on back as she would try to look up and roll over to see them. Your videos are so helpful - thank you!!!

My baby learnt to roll from back to tummy when he turned 3 months. Only after that he started lifting his head while on his tummy. He wasn’t willing to do tummy time before he could roll onto his tummy on his own. I was quite worried that he had no head control at all close to three months, so I started putting him on the floor on his back whenever he wasn’t sleeping. His physical development accelerated after that. He learnt to roll from his tummy to his back shortly after that.

My real struggle is about letting the baby play on his own, where he actually learns and practices these skills independently. Everything I have read and watched kind of tells me to be engaged with the baby all the time with rolling, sitting etc. And I did it constantly I think until 3 months, but now that he is 4 months old, I have realized that the moment I leave him alone (spending time a couple of meters away), he starts to think by himself and immediately starts to roll over and try to shift the weight back to roll back. But no sources ever told me to just leave the baby to play with himself if he is happy and I still have this mom's guilt if I am even just watching him from the distance minding his own business.
@EmmaHubbard Жыл бұрын
Hi Mia, at this age your little one will be a lot more independent in being able to move around and hold and play with toys. So he will start to be happier to spend time lying on the floor exploring. It is exhausting interacting with a baby all day and honestly it isn't something they need - sometimes they would prefer to play with toys then interact with you. That is fine. So enjoy those moments of watching him from a distance without any guilt!
@miamaui8069 Жыл бұрын
@@EmmaHubbard Thank you for the reassuring words and also for the content. I have used the guidelines in your videos for helping to roll from stomach to back. But now I try to help him if he needs me and lets me know and the other times when he is playing by himself he sometimes remembers the moves which we did together and tries to mimic it by himself. Which, I realized, is also the progress he needs to go through - to process the steps by himself and let the little one learn his own body and movements :)

HI, thanks so much for watching. I have a video on activities you can do with 0 -3 month old babies which you might find helpful! Just be mindful if you are him standing up a lot. Babies start to prefer this position and become upset when you place them on the floor in tummy time or their back which is really important when developing their gross motor skills.

My little one is almost 6 months, she’s been rolling from belly to back since two months and we have tried and tried to get her to roll the other way but she has no desire! She’s been sitting for close to a month independently and when in her tummy will push onto straight arms and interact with toys. I have done all of these tips for probably a few months and she can roll with perfect form if I guide her, but just won’t do it independently. We’ve tried toys, wedges, mirror, phone, and she will actually fight against the roll if she’s not in the mood, knees to her chest arms pushing hard back, tucking her head, etc. I’m at a loss in what else to do to help her. We have to use lots of distraction to keep her in tummy time as well or she will just roll over. We practice every wake window and she sleeps side lying almost all the time ( gets herself there). Any tips??

My 6 month recently perfected rolling from belly to back (only towards the right) so she will not stay on her belly for long now. She’s like oh I know how to get out of this! So she also doesn’t care much to try and roll to her tummy. She’s done it a couple times on her own but accidentally. I’ll put toys up behind her and she’ll turn to look and get so close but then she’ll just cry in frustration and stay on her back. When I assist her in rolling back to belly she pretty much does it all on her own but it’s like she doesn’t realize she can do it. Or she just doesn’t want to 🤷♀️

My son is like this! Do you have any advice? Has your baby achieved this now?

@@BrendaDallo ya know I just kept working on it, putting things behind her above her head, and then it was actually the night after her 9 month check up she just suddenly figured out how to do it and rolled to her belly a bunch of times in a row! Then less than a month later she was crawling. Now she just turned one and is almost walking!
