HELP YOUR CHILDREN WITH READING COMPREHENSION AT HOME- STRATEGIES FOR READING COMPREHENSION

We always talk about "it takes a village" to raise kids. As teachers we know that parental support at home is critical to help students reach success. In this video we talk about how help your kids with reading comprehension at home.
We like to chunk out reading understanding into three different areas
1. Before Reading - Get your children to predict things about the story.
2. During Reading - Ask the 5 Ws (Who, What, Where, When and Why)
3. After Reading - Use the 5 Ws, ask them to form an opinion, could they change the ending and why? Did they enjoy it and why?
