My son is 3.5 and he’s on the spectrum. He just started talking in the form of echolalia. He says some things but only my husband and I can understand him. Your videos are so inspirational. So glad you’re back. It’s so nice to know that you and other viewers can relate to what I’m going through.

If I said “nope it’s three meals a day” and walked out of the room to my PDA child, she would follow me around screaming “Two!” At the top of her lungs and not stop until I re-engaged back in the conversation until we go round again. It’s so hard and I need support. Thanks for this video.

My wee boy will be 3 yrs old in dec. When I was watch your clips of Dylan it reminds me so much of my son. No diagnosis yet but he has started speech therapy and we have organised some aba therapy for him as well as we have been told there is a 3yr waiting list on the NHS. I’ve got lots of helpful tips and info from your videos.

Hello 👋, it’s Goldie from across the pond on the west coast of the USA 🇺🇸. This was an excellent, informative vlog, as always. I learned so much & I thank you for being such a wonderful instructor. My beautiful Grandson, who will be 4 years old tomorrow, is on the Spectrum. He has also has been basically non-verbal, but is just beginning to say a few words…which is exciting! I enjoy watching you interact with your children. Please take good care, may you and your family stay safe and God bless you all. 🤗💖🥰

Its obvious to see that youve put rewl effort into understanding and not stiffling your son. E.g creating scenarios in which he can explain something he finds interesting to you. When he was explaining the youtube metrics i could really relate to that odd excitement you get when your both interested in something and also knowledgeable about it. I bet he really appreciates th fact you take him seriously and listen to whathe has to say, keeping this stuff bottled up leads to a more boring existance and definately leads to more masking. Its as clear as day that he respects you, wants your opinion and wants to share his opinion with you. He really does trust you and trust never comes easy. Youre doing an amazing job and im sure your son will grow up with a high degree of confidence in his beliefs. I wish you both all the best, keep setting a great example of a parent child dynamic with neurodivergent factors. Take the time to understand someone and they will reciprocate, treat them with contempt or belittle them and even a young child will pick up on it, become more closed off and will be less able to place their trust in you. Mutual respect and understanding is always the correct way to build wny kind of meaningful relationship with someone.

Hey Luca ! My son is 10 and hasn't been able to go to mainstream school for 5 months. We are in tribunal for specialist placement it's been an absolute nightmare. Add school trauma onto autism . Plus a recent assessment revealed one of the highest pda scores the clinician had seen. We have the best kids ! They just need now demand. I'm like you ! I'm an Irish mum living in the uk. I am like you ! I try and make things flexible as the control is real !!!!. So much so that my son started to orchestrate conversations or requests so there would only be one answer and that would be the one he wanted !!. I teach him about " sometimes " and " maybe ". And " plan b" ! It's slow but he's smart as a whip. Wow !!! It's so challenging and I used to feel so sad but I'm glad I know because I want to help him . And I've had to throw out the mom book on parenting. So we rewrite it to suit us . Love your videos x

I really would love to know how people get these diagnoses , If you’re on any Medicaid. I can barely get my 8 yr old “Therapy” from a licensed therapist and she is suffering and so is everyone around her. Her neurologist said “you’re lucky you’re getting any help with your insurance! “ hopelessness ,is what this feels like, and my daughter feels it as well .

My son just got diagnosed with ADHD. I have been studying about his situation through any available platform including yours but doc just see my son for 1 hr and diagnosed him and ask me to think about medication. I am not ready to do that. I know he has attention issue & do only the task that he likes. and he cant read social cue. But his teacher said he is more settling after a few months of starting school. I just want to try therapy and some training instead of straight away to medicate him. You are helping us a lot and i am so grateful for that. Pls keep doing what you are doing and pls shed some light on ADHD topic too .

Thank you so much for this video. My 5 year old girl has ASD, anxiety, SPD (seeking and avoidance at the same time) and not diagnosed but I think OCD. Did you ever have any problem with your child not liking their name? My lil one loves character names and they change many times each day and she gets upset if you use her real name. Her school has been very understanding. I thought it was a phase but it's been about a year and half.
@ComingHometoAutism3 жыл бұрын
I think this can be a phase so you can always go with it . Dylan used to call me Bob he didn’t like mummy 🙈 now he will only call me mummy ❤️

My six year old son is Autistic PDA and has SPD and anxiety, and he definitely has OCD traits too, especially when he's stressed about something. He has refused to be referred to as his given name since he could talk. We have used only his chosen name for the last three years now and it's used in all circumstances. It's been so long I suspect his chosen name will be his forever name now, and he'll change it legally when he's old enough.
@krazykrissy1283 жыл бұрын
@@emmahepburn7831 yeah with mine it's like she is in her own world. And she assigns not just her a name but everyone else around as well. It's gets difficult because not everyone knows tayo the little bus characters or whatever. And also she won't tell you her name, we have to guess" are you a bus, a car, a train" it gets very complicated. It's like a game to her, and I hate to feed into it, but it's like pick your battles. Do you want her to be happy or upset all the time, and also if I use her chosen name she complies with chores or commands so it's just easier.
@emmahepburn78313 жыл бұрын
@@krazykrissy128 my son is much more comfortable living in his imaginary world. It enables him to be able to function better, so we just go with it as it makes him feel safer and more in control. He would never leave the house if his imaginary world was not used.

If you can stay calm and say it’s ok and make a game of it it will help. So build something up and then get him to knock it down so he sees that things that fall can get back up again x

If he has voices in his head it’s good to draw or get a child psychologist to talk to him. Sometimes it’s just them talking to them selves and this can pass . X
