I have seen clear pencil boxes with the sand. Students open and close and 3 taps for getting your sand ready! Works great!

I’m wanting to attempt having sand trays whole group in kindergarten. I would love to see a teachers’s procedures for getting out the trays quickly without spills and how they are stored.

I used a cookie sheet with a lid and salt. I spray painted the bottom of the cookie sheet. A cover was important to me. Also they do love to get a tad wild while swiping. I will be buying the blending stand.

I'm using it in small groups and my students are doing a beautiful job of being responsible. My issue with the trays is that when we stack them, sand sticks to the bottoms of the trays, then gets all over the floor, making it very slippery (I have linoleum tile in my room.). Any tips or tricks for dealing with the mess?? Thanks in advance!

Hi Abby! We advise using our sand tray bags (linked below). We've also heard of teachers stacking them perpendicular to one another. Hope this helps! brainspring.com/brainspring-store/sand-tray-bags/

Do I have to use the blue sand trays? I have regular lunch trays that we use and I bought the sand. The black is not coming to the top when we shake it.

Hello! Your lunch trays should work just fine. Many lunch trays have a sort of textured bottom, which makes writing in them extra tactile. As far as the sand goes, as students write in their tray, the bright green will "pop out" to them, hence making the letters more visually appealing. We hope you find this helpful and feel free to reach out to us any time! 😊

I sure will use it with my students, but do you think it will be effective with high school students

Yes, definitely. Our Structures® curriculum was designed for students in grades 6-12, and we've used this program with adults.
