Hey Cambriea, Aurikatariina is coming to Miami in a while (if I remember correctly) She lives in Finland & also cleans for free. She looks forward to clean there and is in search for houses. Maybe you can meet & clean together, I'm sure it would work out. You both are completely non-judgemental and have your own cleaning hacks.

That was a REALLY important point about what your time is worth as regards reselling items! I’m 65 and am not reliable enough to hold down a regular job anymore. (health wise only)🤭However, twice a year,I move our two cars out of the garage, tidy up,set up tables and racks and invite my friends to either set up their own section to sell or just donate to me instead of to Goodwill.(most choose the latter🙌🏻) I clean, organize and price everything, then have the sale for two consecutive weekends. The first weekend is about making money for all of my hard work, but the next weekend is about getting rid of it all,so on the second Saturday,EVERYTHING is half price.(what I lose in price,I more than make up in volume of sales.) After making at least $1000.00,(every spring and fall) I typically donate about two mini van loads to the Humane Society Thrift Shop. What used to take me about two days to set up and two days to take down, now takes about a week on each end.😖 However,it’s something I can still do to make a little money. THIS WOULD NOT BE WORTH IT IF I WAS ALSO WORKING AT A PAYING JOB! I have the art of hosting a successful garage sale down to a science, but I totally get why many women who work outside the home, have one and say “NEVER AGAIN!”

What helped me the most was to realistically decide on my two favorite crafts and part with everything else. I love my doll house and making miniatures for it,and I also enjoy making Anniversary and Thank You cards with rubber stamps. (I stopped doing silk floral arrangements when people stopped being interested in buying them or receiving them as gifts, along with other cheap little items that would just clutter other people’s lives.)I CANNOT DESCRIBE THE RELIEF I FELT AFTER THAT DECISION!🙌🏻

I really needed this today. I love to shop, love pretty things but nothing looks pretty because I have so much that it's just constant chaos. I have 4 boys a husband and an in-home daycare so there are a lot of people and things in this house at all times. Your explanation of shopping being a short term feeling and the clutter weighing on our mental health is so spot on. And I was just looking at clear totes this morning so I could start organizing my storage room. I wasn't starting because I didn't have them yet. I saw myself in this entire video and everything you said! Thank you for always being real and not only showing the "perfect".

It’s interesting how the mind works. Once our home was decluttered and we saw how much we donate/throw out etc and how many things we never used, shopping was no longer therapeutic. It became intentional and I think it’s because we couldn’t believe how much we wasted on buying things we just never used. Great job Cambriea. It is a huge transformation regardless.🥰

So much accomplished in those two day! Great job! If she got rid of that couch, she would have room for some serious closed or open storage against that wall. A craft table with storage under would be a great addition to the center of the room to make working on projects more enjoyable. Do you ever help a person design the space to make it work better? Seems like the organizing is so close to doing that. She is well on her way with your help.

I just want to throw this out there as a thought for a future video. Because of how severe the housing market got for us renters, many of us (around NC) moved into tiny homes and like me a camper or RV. So we had to greatly down size. But, now it is still a crazy task trying to organize what we have and need into a very tiny space. I am constantly trying to come up with ideas and trying to get creative with organizing and failing miserably. We are at basic clothes and shoes, minimal toys and no extras. But like it's a challenge for food storage, so I don't go to the store every day. I have even tried to keep things in my minivan only to have to runout in the rain or dark to go get it out.

@amypoole30: me and my husband did just that. Sold our home. And bought an RV. Did about 10 downsizings before getting it down to half a storage unit. That is a tough job! You really have to be willing to part with stuff. Once I did it, I didn’t miss it.

The motivation your comments give is such a big part of why I like your videos. Keep up the Helping Hands series. I am trying to do decluttering right now. I am finding it much harder than I expected. But I take comfort that it is a process. I know I need to get rid of more stuff, but I give myself credit for getting something done each week. If I cannot let it go today, I can go over a room again and I can make more progess in the future.

LOL If your friend does not have any luck selling her items she can donate the supplies to preschool's, nursing homes, churches, women and men's shelters. I had an out of control crafting hoard. I turned buying craft supplies into a craft. To the point, I had what people call goat trails throughout my home. It all started in one main room. I had shelving units making pathways to my bed stuffed full with books, craft supplies and tools. I couldn't figure out where to begin or how to imagine an end and I just wanted to organize it all. So I took some advice from the crafty organizer. I took pictures of each area of clutter. I made a drawing of what I wanted each area to look like. Then I created a plan and in the process boiled down where the starting point had to be. Not where I wanted but what the plan showed me had to be the start for each step of the plan to fall in place. Then I realized I had to much of many supplies and that made it easier to start letting go of stuff and over time I let go of a ton of items. I am now in a minimal happy place. No more goat trails.

I was born with the organizing gene. Even as a child my room was the cleanest and most organized room in the house. My late sister always said my house was clean because I liked to clean, I corrected her, I clean because the end result is my adrenalin rush. Great job in that room, the visual clutter alone would have given me pause.

You were right and honest in telling her she did need to get rid of at least 50% to make it liveable. It's still too much stuff, even if it's more organized and looked through now. Maybe the threshold is lower for her to just go through some bins and items now. At least there's a bit more order in the chaos and room to do sorting.

Ok, so I was taking a class last year at this time, I needed a final project, so I decided to inventory all my yarn. A year later, most of my yarn is sitting in 5 black and yellow bins I purchased at Sam's. One bin is just my partial skeins of yarn, 3 bins are projects, and patterns; 1 bin is yarn to use. I did not dispose of much of my yarn, but I had about 1/4 of the same size bin with yarn that I don't like. I am not allowing myself to buy more yarn, but I'm not getting rid of it. Each binnis is marked, and when I get settled again, I will get my projects worked on and keep crocheting almost every night. I did downsize from a 3 bedroom house with a husband and cousin to a bedroom in my sister's house as I deal with the loss of my husband. I have realistic expectations with my yarn, and if I find I'm not meeting my goals, I will look over my plans and let go of some of my yarn. Everything I currently own will fit in a 5x10 storage unit.
