This one was hard for me too! 😔 I had a dachshund who gave birth years ago. I don't remember her being in so much pain. She had a puppy that didn't survive. How skinny this precious mama was after the C-section. If her owners didn't want her to get pregnant, why didn't they spay her? Something doesn't seem right here. It looks like she's had a litter before too. Thank God for Joey!!

I also completely respect you stepping back when you felt it was too much for you to handle!!! Wagmore should have had this one looked over by a vet.. Any smaller breeds need that... Makes me aggravated that they didn't have this over seen. Not joey's fault

Once again nothing against Joey.

This little nugget and her babies are so lucky to have hit the jackpot and landed with you, Joey. Imagine if she hadn't been found when she was. Giving birth on her own out in a field somewhere. You did an amazing job recognizing that she was in distress and getting her to an ER vet asap. You absolutely saved her life and the lives of those 5 puppies. She and those pups are going to require constant, specialized care. Nobody could expect you to handle her whole situation on your own. I hope you're able to update us on their progress though.

Seeing how thin Mama as after having her babies was shocking! And so pleased that you know your limitations. Tiny puppies delivered by c-section, who were basically starving in Mama, had anesthesia, and were struggling to latch would be overwhelming for fosters who had years of experience. Could this little family faced anymore immediate challenges? You absolutely made the right decision!

So proud of you for knowing your boundaries and recognizing what you can and can’t do for these puppies and communicating that. Your giving these puppies the best chance at life with someone more experienced in bottle feeding. So proud of you! My friend and I tried bottle feeding her kittens cuz mom wasn’t producing enough and there were only 2 left. Both died in our arms. I was only 15. It was traumatic.

It's TERRIFYING to bottle feed! Once, my family found a few-days-old kitten in the backyard (closed eyes, umbilical cord). We waited for the mom to come back, but we think our outdoor male cat scared her off. I brought it in, and since I followed fosters, I knew we had to bottle feed. It was cold and super skinny, looked like a little grey rat lol. I bought all the things to bottle feed and tried it, but every time I tried, the kitten had trouble latching and it gave me such anxiety that I would hurt it. Luckily, our local humane society had a foster with a mom cat who just had kittens and she agreed to take in our solo kitten and SHE LIVED. A few months later, we saw our kitten on their humane society page, she was adopted with one of her "siblings" from the momma cat. Sometimes we aren't equipped, and good for you for recognizing it! You're giving the puppies and mom a better shot at life! Wishing you, your pack, and this little family all the best! ❤️

Awe, those poor babes. I grew up in Bakersfield. There are just so many stray animals there and the shelters are full. Almost no one cares anymore because so many animals get dumped on the streets of Bakersfield daily. Thats probably why all of your rescues keep coming from Bako. I used to catch stray dogs with hot dogs around my neighborhoods growing up there and brought home quite a few that my mom helped me rehome. Thank you so much for continuing to help them.

What a wonderful foster parent you are! Those large heads have been bred into those little dogs like pugs, Chihuahuas and French Bulldogs because people think they're cute. The result has been dogs that can't deliver puppies on their own. It's sad and unnecessary. I'm so glad you and a great rescue like Wagmore are working together!
