Hades is definitely a game where the choices you make, both before and during a run, matter more than your actual mechanical skill. Anyone can win with the right knowledge!

Brand new to this channel and pretty new to Hades as well but I've been binging your videos for about the last week and it has drastically improved my gameplay. Seeing which doors you prioritize, which boons you do and don't take and insight to why has made my runs feel a lot easier. Before I was watching your vids I had taken a break and had gotten to 3 heat (yes three 😭😭) and now I've beaten 5 heat and it felt pretty easy still. Can't wait to comment about a 32 heat clear or submit an attempt for you to question 🤣🤣

Oh I'm definitely sending in a run to get some advice on. I've been trying to speedrun Rama (IGT) for some time, and I've been able to get a sub-8 once, but I've been struggling to get close again. I don't really have someone I can ask about what I could do better, other than just "git gud."

Actually if you directly compare curse of nausea and low tolerance. Low tolerance deal more damage as a whole actually. Curse of nausea increases speed of hangover. Hence, it increases the instances of damage in 4 sec. It has lot of advantages against low tolerance especially against normal enemies but in terms of total damage, low tolerance is more powerful. Ofcourse in terms of speedrun, i think Dionysus build is not the right option anyway. It is powerful build but not for this one. I think he takes true shot to enable splitting headache duo boon (oh it is already addressed).

I got into hades a month and a half ago and I've already beaten 32 heat in hell mode. I've got a couple of questions: if I want to get into speedrunning this game is it better hell mode or normal mode and why? Do you still receive runs and if you do where can I submit one?

I haven't played hades in a while, but I think the highest heat I ever got was like 12 or 13 and only with the fists with the aspect of Talos (the one that pulls enemies in; I love that aspect personally). I think that's pretty good, but I wish I could get higher, especially with other weapons. I tried over and over with different strategies, but couldn't seem to get any higher. Maybe I should have switched around the heat settings. I think I had most of it in tight deadline and the one that makes bosses harder (I think it's extreme measures, but I forget if that's correct). I was usually good with tight deadline since I got fairly quick, but making the final boss harder was brutal. I don't think I ever beat Hades with that setting, so maybe I should have turned that off and some others on. I could beat the other bosses with their harder forms, but Hades was just too much. I should get back into Hades at some point, but I'm kind of waiting for Hades 2 since I did almost everything in Hades. I could have tried for higher heat or upgraded the weapon aspects all the way, but other than that, I did pretty much everything I could.

Pretty sure chiron speedruns use Poseidon special for the high % buff and good supporting boons

Poseidon's attack has the worst multiplier on the attack, it's only 30% on common. And idk what Poseidon could give you apart from hydraulic might and the dash, Artemis has much better support boons for crits

Poseidon's special isn't the strongest one. It is still Aphrodite which has the highest percentage, then comes poseidon in second place.

can someone clue me in as to why you'd ever take chthonic vitality? gainin health from picking up dark just seems to massively useful, especially if you don't have active bounties, because you get so much dark from bosses

It’s mainly to keep up High Confidence in between rooms. After the biome ends you are gonna get the fountain anyway so you don’t really need the health from dark regen, but taking small amounts of damage in each room can easily lower your health to less than 80% over time. Also notable that speedrunners will basically never take the darkness room reward, all the other rewards have much better benefits (keys give rolls, nectar gives a pom, gems give gold).

​@sajanramanathan yeah I suppose I didn't figure in high confidence quite as much. I guess with speedrunning though I assume that you're not playing it safe and just going to max damage, and don't mind taking hits, so high confidence isn't all that useful (amd 25% damage isn't enough to make up for the time lost to more careful play) So if you come out of the boss with a sliver of health, the fountain won't max you out, but combining with the dark, you'll be much closer to full. Of course, the math might work out otherwise, so maybeI should try playing with high confidence a little more

@@treschlet You're right that speedrunners don't normally mind taking small hits and generally focus on getting damage in. The thing with a really good speedrun is that you're doing so much damage that you often clear rooms in 10 seconds, so you don't have time to take many hits. Even versus bosses, good speedrun builds can get through each phase in less than 20 seconds. So you don't end up taking as much damage, even when playing that aggressively.

That's a bad decision. There is lot of times when stuff in the well of charon is actually better than any boons or any other shit.

I run with bouldy rather than meg. And bouldy returns 30 of the 40 I spend. That’s a no brainer. Plus wells provide extra chaos and yarn to boost your next boon.
