I know I'll never do 32 heat again because my successful run was a rocket/cluster bomb one. That's the only way I was able to get it 😅

@@PlatypusAfro keep at it! The rail offers a lot of hammers that will get you there. My first 32 I got lucky with doom damage on Lucifer with infinite laser. It was great for bosses but a little tight with smaller foes.

@@landler656 Thanks :D Artemis on the special can be great, but if you've got doom on the attack then getting merciful end can be great. I'll give it another try when I'm feeling brave enough.

I just did a run like this. Got up to 93.4% dodge with plume (38.4%), zag fists (15%) second wind (30%) and greater evasion (10%). Also was able to beat em4 with just spamming the call as I had smoldering air and vengeful mood. Those are very fun runs to do.

I used to swear by the lambent plume when I was a new player, still find it really fun after around 1500 runs

i actually just did this today, not realising the dodge chances stacked together, i had always thought they acted as separate procs. So with zag fists 15%, epic greater evasion for 20%, rare second wind with smouldering air for 33% and plume at about 33.6~ish% adding up to 101% dodge chance, dad literally could NOT touch me, neither could the doomstone or butterfly balls in 1st phase. Cherry on top being that i had drunken strike with curse of nausea and the aphro + dio duo boon for max drunk damage. some of the most fun ive had in the game in a while

As far as I know, Freezing Vortex and Hunting Blades are mutually exclusive. Once you get one, the other cannot appear.

Man, I'd love if the damage tracker was a featured in Hades 2, maybe after getting a couple wins. I knew hunting blades was good, but even without cast damage bonuses, it does CRAZY work.

Lambent Plume Hunting Blades was the first build I beat the game with AND the first build I beat 28 heat with. Still haven't beaten 32 heat and haven't felt like I need to. I am having plenty of fun speedrunning the lower heat categories! EDIT: As for the Ghibli movies. I have a pretty soft spot for the Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and Castle in the Sky (Laputa)

@@eloelo6944 Obviously. There was a time period where I pretty much did no other runs than Zag fists and Lambent Plume and I have gotten multiple really good runs with it, as mentioned before (even outside of those two). I just really enjoy the combo!

@@johndoe9514 Haha! The speedrun file I use has everything unlocked already. I just personally never felt like challenging the higher heat levels were for me, so I am plenty happy with the 28 I reached!

It's so hard to rank the ghibli movies. I can say that my top ones are mononoke, spirited away, howl's moving castle, and naussicca in no particular order. Totoro and ponyo will always have a special place in my heart because my kids watched those on repeat when they were little, and they're just great anyway. I love them all though, it's hard to pick just one as a favorite.

When I first started playing I didn’t realize taking off the plume or butterfly would get rid of the buffs, so I’d get to Elysium and switch. What a fool I was… I still am, but I used to be too.

Fun run! Kiki, Totoro, Mononoke, Spirited. There all great though, but Keaton was terrible in Porco Rosso (imo anyway). So i'd sub that one..

Been trying to beat 32 heat with all aspects recently and finally found a use for ruthless reflex with the feather! Was really struggling with Gilgamesh but the +2 dashes it gives you let’s you use ruthless reflex and it feels pretty busted when used along with the feather and a +dodge% boon. Thanks for all the many tips & content!

I’ve got a question about rush delivery. Does it trigger once for every instance of speed boosts you have? Like if you’ve got epic rush delivery, would you get a total of 200% extra damage if you have both the speed boost from lambent plume and ignited ichor? I was wondering since you got the ignited ichor for a speed boost even though you already have the speed boost from the plume

Rush Delivery reads as dealing bonus damage based on your current movespeed bonus, so it's simply whatever you +movespeed percent is when the damage lands.

@@Haelian oooooh I think I get it now. I was thinking it meant that you get this specific damage boost as long as you have bonus speed. Like if you have greater haste and epic rush delivery, you would just always deal double damage, which, in hindsight, I should’ve known is too over powered. So just to clarify, if I had common rush delivery with common greater haste, I would deal an extra 10% damage not 50?

I got my second hades kill with the fists, my first was the bow. At first I thought the fists were the weakest weapon, but I upgraded the dodge chance to 15%, and in the winning run got Special area damage, bonus damage to dash special, and +30% special speed from Hermes, plus I had the aphrodite special boost upgraded to level 11. I just went ham spamming cast for damage buff, dash and special on hades with just 1 death defiance left and he just melted lol. But this was only on 1 heat,

27:55 - They *do* count towards the Pom Blossom, oddly enough. If you're not running Tight Deadline (or if you have time to spare, which you probably do), it's basically 1-2 free poms per tunnel. Obviously it's no good for this exact build, but it is compatible with a variety of no-keepsake-in-particular builds. (This is why it's usually a bad idea to remove the Pom Blossom between biomes - you won't be able to reapply it in Styx, and it's arguably better in Styx than in any other biome.)

Uh, is it even possible to get Hunting Blades and Freezing Vortex together like you wanted? Aren't those two boons unique in that you can only get one or the other on a run? I feel like maybe that used to be a thing but got removed perhaps? It'd be pretty damn powerful if that were a possible combo. Easy Chill stacks and if you can get the boons that cause them to explode at 10 stacks and execute at 10% health would just melt everything, especially with the mirror buff that gives you a damage buff with two or more status effects on a target.

How do Rush Delivery and Hyper Sprint interact exactly? I did some tests using the codex mod but I didn't see any change on damage.

You'll deal more damage whenever you have that additional movespeed bonus basically, according to the percentage on Rush Delivery. So if you have 100% Rush Delivery, you'll deal +100% more damage right after dashing for the time mentioned on Hyper Sprint. You may need to reload the room after picking up boons with the Codex Mod to get them to work properly.

I always feel like a bit of a cheater for using the easiest weapon with the most overpowered combo when I get the good scores, but I think I'm happy being kinda bad but still good enough for the game to compensate for me on its own lll

Yeah. Approval Process may not hurt the run super substantially, but the real damage it does is the IRL psychic damage dealt to the player when you're constantly shown stuff you'd rather keep even if they aren't integral. In terms of fun, it's just a mood killer.

I really love 32 heat plume runs, for awhile they were all I was doing. I always take EM4 to make the hades fight interesting, no approval process or hard labour. All you need to win is splash dash, or Zeus/Dio attack/call

Nausicaä remains my favorite movie of all time to this day. I first watched it at my grandparents' house, on some old tape or something like that, and something about the ohmu really resonated with me as a kid. Lots of great moments and characters in that movie :>

Team Kiki ❤ but I also LOVE Porco Rosso ... I feel like it is a bit underrtated. Totoro , Ponyo, Chihiro, Howl. etc.. all great. But make sure to watch my bneighbor the Yamadas! A lot of people do not know it and it is very different... but it is so lovely

I don't know if it's popular out of the Ghibli line up, but one I keep coming back to is From Up On Poppy Hill. Yes there's a weird thing with the relationship between the protagonists that gets kiiiinda dicey, but it's just one that calms me down with it's low stakes, great music tracks, and great background art. I do repeat watches all the time. Also good dodge runs make my brain go brrrrr so I might try and do one to attempt to beat 32 heat, haven't yet

I watched Kiki's Delivery Service a lot when I was younger; it's the coziest of the Ghibli movies to me. I also feel like it's the most relatable and grounded (no pun intended). It perfectly captures the awkwardness of growing up and trying to be someone, as well as the pain and struggle of losing your passion. Mononoke is great of course, but I'm with your wife on this one. The only Ghibli movies I subjectively like as much as Kiki's are Nausicaa and Howl's.

Princess M was my first ever (even before Totoro if it can be believed) and I saw it right after it had released in Japan (my Japanese teacher in high school brought back a JP language VHS). It’s hard to beat your first experience w a Miyazaki Ghibli :)

I've really liked every ghibli I've seen so far... except for The Wind Rises. It's a bizarre film about the brilliant aircraft engineer who created the Japanese Zero airplane, which was used in WWII. The whole movie feels like Miyazaki (an outspoken pacifist) trying to make excuses for loving a man who built a war machine with Nazi technology. He makes it seem as if it's a real shame that this guy's brilliant designs/ingenuity were used for war, but never confronts the central problem: if the guy knew his designs were going to be used to fight a war on the side of genocide and fascism, isn't quitting airplane design the right thing to do? The whole thing comes across as, like, ghibli-flavoured war apologetics. Still cute and gorgeous to look at and filled with amazing images and artistic choices... but deeply hollow at the center. It's the exact opposite of Porco Rosso, which is explicitly about how it's better to be a pig than a fascist and you should do whatever it takes to NOT serve fascism. It's extra weird because Hideki Anno, creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion, voices the main character. Just a very uncanny film.

Nausicaa is my fave. I think Princess Mononoke is a better film that covers the same themes, but I just like Nausicaa more for its setting and it has a certain nostalgia for me
