This tutorial helped me SO MUCH, I'm an animation student and I have to take a sound class (where I have NO IDEA WHATSOEVER of whtat's going on and make me so frustrated) but I have to do my assignments nonetheless and this... I actually understand things and it relieved so much of my anxiety towards this class and sound recording + editing in general... Chef kisses, 10/10, would and will recommend. Thank you for making it!!!!!!

I want you to know. I have only done this once, "stop what I am doing to comment and thank the producer. "Devvon, Thank You. You are educated / knowledgeable on your subject but what impressed me about you is that you don't waste my valuable time. You get to the point and it is clear that you know how to teach. Of course I appreciate the other videos that I found but the way you get straight to the point and predict every issue, I love it. Thank you. By the way, I was on Amazon shopping for a Blue Yeti USB Mic , and when I get to the shop cart I remember I have Pro Tools, I have a professional Rode Microphone, "wake up". Thing is I have a fully loaded computer built for music but I never use the app. I am a writer and I want to record my own audio books. I welcome your opinion or comment. Again, Devvon, thank you.

Great tutorial. I had an engineer who previously set me up last year with pro tools, interface and even formatted my vocal texture to plugins via template in the mix window. Unfortunately, my version of pro tools in avid expired and I had to start from scratch tonight. I'm pretty good at using pro tools but now I have to learn how to use plugins in a session as I no longer have the previous vocal chain the engineer accommodated me with. Thanks for the video. Was a huge help in the right direction on my own.

Fantastic video! My only advice would be to explain the difference between mono and stereo... from my understanding, stereo allows you hear the "width" of the sound while mono does not. It's a richer experience in my opinion. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!
@lilsavdabest3 жыл бұрын
You should NEVER (EVER TIMES A MILLION) record in stereo unless you literally have two microphones set up in the vocal booth... and that is just not something people usually do and a very good way to get a very unbalanced sound. lol When we record we use a single microphone, the signal picking up our vocals is a SINGLE microphone therefore the ONLY option is to record it MONO.. if you want the stereo effect use panning, NEVER EVER record in stereo and I cannot stress that enough (hence me saying it over and over again lol) With that said, ALWAYS edit in stereo, all the engineers I know only listen to the playback through mono settings to make sure it doesn't sound completely off but even if it sounds off they aren't editing anything while listening to the playback in mono.

Thanks for putting this up, however, I cannot figure out why my mic isn’t working. Followed all of your instructions & the sound I try to record is not coming from my mic. Basically, my mic isn’t connected but it is. It’s not broken, either. Please someone help. About a year ago this same thing happened to me when I last had protools & I don’t remember how I fixed it except for the fact that it was done on the “Create New” dashboard…something I clicked on that page every time before making a session caused my mic to work. Any ideas?

Hello everyone, i have a question i cant find the answer to. hope you can help me: i use a scarlett 2i2 with vocals and guitar as input. so i have a audio track for guitar, and one for vocals. If i press the record enable button on one, and then on the other, the first one switches off. So i cannot record both at same time.. i dont know which settings i have to change, i guess in PT, but i cannot see the I/O window most tutorials talk about.... Thanks in advance :)
