This is one of the very first true great works of fan animation that was made for the universe, you will see it evolved into a full CGI show by the last hour of it. If you really like the style, the guy got hired by Games Workshop and made another series with them called angels of death which is on their website and some clips are available on youtube. Answer your question about the numbers that they deploy, the black templars are rather unique exception to a lot of the standards you are used to with chapters. They have way way more than a thousand Marines in their chapter because of a loophole in the Codex studies which states that you can only have a 1000 people unless you're on a crusade so the black Templars have been on a never-ending Crusade for the last 10,000 years. No one really knows how many they actually have but it's likely a low strength Legion. They are also one of the only chapters that revere the emperor as a God not just a man like just about every other chapter does.

@WadeWadeReacts if i remember right. There are 25k space Marines from various chapters there. The black Templar can't deploy more than as many as they have as there would be questions as to why they are reinforcing with more than a chapter's agreed apon size.

9:28 you were right with Initiation. The Black Templars are designed and enspired by many medielval knightly orders. The most obvious are the teutonic knights, that is one of the reasons why some Fans like myself view the Black Templars as german, atleast many of their characters have german ore german inspired names. Like Sigismund, Albrecht, Alberik, Adelart, Helbrecht, Mordred (I know Mordred is originally from the british isles but still the name is similar spoken and spelled in german) Ofcource this is nonsense because such things as our modern ethical groups no longer exist in w40k. However the hitting a chapter-brother during a poromotion was a comman practice for some knighly orders and the Teutonic knights are again the prime example. High marshall Hellbrecht even said it himself "may this be the last blow you reseave unanswerd" meaning may you never be killed by the enemy.

1:51 he is a chaplain, or reclusiarch as he was called, just like the chaplain in space marine 2. It’s basically the spiritual leader of any given chapter making sure everyone is disciplined and fully motivated to carry out their duties.

To explain why Artarion sounds off: He lost his lower jaw during a battle and had to get a prosthetic and his helmet modified to accommodate it. Also the Commissar at the end is Yarrick when he lost his arm, killed the warboss who cut it off, then took the ork's power klaw as a trophy and replacement.
