I Know, in another interview she said to survive you go into a state of shock and disbelief and just don't accept it, she said she was like that for 3 years, then she came out of it, but it was so painful she went back in, I think that is how you survive losing a child like that or all the parents of murdered children, because if you don't do that I believe you just die

She was not only a loving mother to her kids and her husband. She was a woman of strength, honor and dignity. I'm positive that alot of women in society today we're truly inspired by Doris Tate. At least I would hope so I praise her for how she stood strong with her activism that stemmed from the tragic murder of her lovely daughter Sharon. She even inspires me.

I know the comment was made years ago, but anyway. She was old at the time of this video and in that face-to-face encounter with Tex, I think she was the same age that my grandmother was at the time. And she still got sick, so this accelerated things but it's a little pointless to say she should be alive today. Her husband died years after her in 2005, and he lived to see their youngest daughter die of cancer in 2000. Almost the whole Tate family is gone.

@@dennishardy3869 A lot of women in society today do not know what dignity or self-respect is and they think that stepping on other people is a sign of exemplary strength. Not to generalize, but It's almost an offense to compare this lady to that, I mean, from what I read about Doris Tate, she wouldn't approve many things these days. She was a classy and reserved person who just as Sharon's father lived for years in a tunnel of suffering, and was very protective of her offspring. So much so that Sharon herself and some of her acquaintances thought she was a little intrusive. Before the crime she asked her pregnant daughter to stay at the family home and not in that mansion on Cielo Dr...But she refused and even Debra would keep her sister company, but again Sharon said she didn't need to, probably preventing Doris & Paul from loseing two daughters at once.

She agreed to do this interview with this man and they discussed before what would be talked about. He is not expressing anything that hasn't already been expressed to Doris. @Scene68 I don't think William Garretson was aware of the carnage because the police found him in the guest house in plain view in front of a window. He might have decided to walk the dogs at just the right time to escape being found and murdered. Because of the unusual acoustic setting in the canyon location of the house he somehow did not hear the horror of that night. In essence It was not his time.

@@paulvoorhies8821I think he heard shots that killed Steven Parent but that he thought it was just firecrackers (that seems to often be a mistake made by people who never heard gunfire in real life) and that he heard the murder of Abigail Folger. He might have even seen Abigail being murdered. He did say someone tried to enter the guest house but didn't so I believe he stayed in the guest house the entire time. I can see him being scared of leaving the guest house and not able to call police since the phone lines were cut. The only thing I lean towards not being true is that he listened to the music. I think he might have made it up for some reason. Even police officer that gave him the lie detector test said he didn't commit murders but that he knew more than he let on (which later proved correct when he admitted hearing Abigail Folger getting murdered and about someone trying to enter the guest house).

Leslie Van Houten told Diane Sawyer that she stabbed Rosemary LaBianca "around 16 times". Van Houten's lawyer says she stabbed her in the lower back area 13 times. The autopsy indicated 14 stab wounds to the lower back/buttocks that were not fatal injuries. So for the sake of argument, let's says Rosemary was dead when she was stabbed in the lower back area, that leaves possibly a few other stab wounds elsewhere that Van Houten may have inflicted if her own estimate was correct and Rosemary may have died from one of those. The Diane Sawyer interview was years after this interview and earlier comments by the attorney so Leslie must have changed her own story to admit to more stabs. The police report also indicated that Rosemary appeared to crawl more than 2 feet with lamp cords around her neck in an effort to get away before the cords prevented her from going farther and she had defensive wounds. She did not die a quick and easy death so what was Leslie doing while all of that was going on?
