What can I say mate we were spoilt rotten with this camp, practically ran up the mountain after a beer and some nice food, witnessed a stunning sunset then stars had a good 6 hours sleep then a perfect sunrise. Perfection if ever I witnessed it mate lol. Really enjoyed it and great to catch up. See you on the next one and it won’t be as long 👌. ATB Steve

Wow cheers Chris honestly I’m blown away probably the conditions that helped it look good lol. Yeah Helvellyn is the one and I’ve been wanting to camp up there for a while but just never worked out weather wise until now and boy did it work out. Loved every minute mate. Yeah the stick table is my go to table it allows a straight level for the stove regardless of the gradient of the pitch, plus it’s only about 4 quid. It was Dave miles from miles from anywhere that put me onto them and I’ve used it to death ever since lol. Thanks for watching mate and hope you’re back out and fit and well soon enough 🙌🏼. I never flew every time I went up from Thirlmere and that was without the camping pack too 😳. Canny night for it mind, only ever had one clear view when I have been up there but apart from it being 'fresh', you bad a belter there. Loved the setting sun and the night skies and morning was canny too - what better way to start off the day than a nice big Snickers bar! That is one lightweight tent and seems to be very popular with wildcampers, for obvious reasons. To get two clear days on Helvellyn, especially wind free, was real nice it of a change this week mind. Couple of great shots at the end but I was looking forward to the money shot - bacon and eggs! Cheers Alan

Cheers Alan mate honestly the best conditions I can ever remember having for the full duration of a wildcamp lol. I was like a child I couldn’t stop looking around and up at the night sky. I let a chef cook the eggs and bacon for me on this one as I was trying to keep weight down but looking back a full English cooking as I watch the sunrise would have been the absolute dream lol. And yeah the tent is superb for the money it really is a nice place to spend the night although I didn’t truly test it so maybe by the end of summer I can give it a quality overview/review of my opinion of it but so far so good. Thank you 🙏🏼, yeah it’s technically not allowed however it’s tolerated aslong as you follow a few basic rules such as camping up high above the highest stone wall, no fires to be lit, and leave the area as you found it. All the lads I go out with will usually pick up other peoples rubbish too as it’s more the inn experienced hikers who leave the rubbish not the experienced wild campers. The rules in Scotland are a little more relaxed but I’d follow those rules all the same as to not spoil the land for others. Thanks for watching ATB Steve

Hi Fraser cheers for the kind words mate and I have to say the new mat was nice I was well impressed however it’s my first time using this so would like to use it more before I cast any opinions on it. Compared to the xlite it is warmer and it felt a little thicker but that may just be wishful thinking lol. A few mates have used this mat for a few years and they swear by them and for the little extra weight compared to say an neo air xlite I’d say after first use it’s worth it. Alright mate, the mighty Helvellyn is stunning eh, your set up is very similar to mine, I’ve just got the exact same tent and wondered did you get much condensation and if so did it wet your bag with it being single skin? Subbed marra nice work!

Hi mate firstly thanks for the sub and yeah it’s a cracking tent and there was condensation due to the conditions and zero wind but nothing on the bag as there’s a slight mesh wall at the head and foot end so it probably prevents that. It may happen slightly but I think it’s unlikely. A slight breeze and I suspect the condensation would be almost none existent. Thanks for watching mate. ATB Steve

Yeah I parked at swirls car park at thirlmere and it’s a steady climb up from there. It’s a challenge still but a nice walk all the same and levels out before the summit.
