So happy to see how happy you are brother. Like I said in the last video comments, Jasper makes a great engine. You get that MDS turned off and that thing has 200,000 miles or more. My 2004 Hemi which didn’t have MDS back then had 190,000 miles when I traded it for a 2016 Colorado (worst decision I ever made) and it was still just as strong as day one. Ran so smooth and still got the same fuel mileage as it did new. They are a great engine. So happy to be back in a Ram with my 2018 Cummins. I’d have bought a new Hemi and turned off the MDS asap but the travel trailer my wife bought the Cummins was just a better option. And boy do I love it. Hope to tune it in a couple months and get rid of the soot cooker 😉

Glad the truck is fixed. Since I have had extra time (off work for covid epidemic) I have searching for answers so this doesnt happen to my 2016. I have 27k miles on mine and dont want to void the 100k powertrain. My solution to this will most likely be to order the Edge Pulsar add on pcm. Dont need to have computer reprogrammed and it will turn off mds.

Awesome to have the truck back! But fyi, mds did not cause your problem. It's a failure in the lifter design itself. So turning off mds will not prevent the issue. Only changing lifters will do that

I realize they're two different issues sir. I was just making a comment that it is ridiculous to starve cylinders to try to increase gas mileage... I'm glad you made that comment cuz I didn't want to come off like that is what caused the problem. Thanks brother.

@@bigdaddyshouse Absolutely man. I do agree it's not the best idea to starve them. Realistically it doesn't make a difference in mpg on individual vehicles. Its just to make the EPA happy cause less fuel is being used. Just its over millions of vehicles that all that fuel is being saved 😂

Woah, what’s your deal? The MDS engines never showed oil starvation in stress testing during R&D. You put all the whacky mods on, and drive like a maniac. You got the nose habit, too.

1) MDS lifters require oil pressure to expand into the locked position. This temporarily robs the oil supply volume just long enough to lock the lifters into place. Once locked, oil pressure is dispersed evenly respective of the applicable lubed component of the engine. When you have 1 or more MDS lifters failing to lock, oil pressure is lost to the rest of the engine (not all pressure but enough to cause oil starvation). 2) My old 5.7 HEMI was stock. 3) Nose habit Sarcasm loading.....................

What tuner do you have to turn off the MDS completely. Don't you have to replace the lifters with non MDS lifters. And replace the MDS sensors with some plastic plugs. I read a lot of reviews with these issues about the MDS.

It could be done both ways. you can do a mechanical delete or buy a tuner and just simply turn it off. Both ways can be quite pricey depending on what year truck you have. Fortunately for me I have an unlocked PCM. 2014 and older RAMs. I'm using a Diablo T1000 I'll make a video about it. Good question sir

@@bigdaddyshouse Thanks for answering back. I also have 2014 ram but mines a Lone star. My truck was making hemi tick so I changed the oil and use synthetic ultra platinum pennzoil. It actually stop the tick but, then again I have 183,000 miles on my truck. When you place your engine, did mechanically delete the MDS or do still have the sensors on? I can't wait to see the video on the tuner

Hey BettaBeGood Jr, off the top of my head, I think it was $6300 total. It hurt! There are other ways to go about it that are much cheaper though. Like, if I would have got an aftermarket automobile repair insurance that would have been mighty helpful. Lol You can also just replace the cam and lifters for under 2,000. Wow, great observation! The hyper flash is because I need to figure out a new way to route the OLED. Currently I have them tapped into the parking lights. Which was fine when I had my 3" evic. But the 7" is super picky.... I think im gonna reroute them to ACC. Fantastic question sir.

You said something about $7000. What is included in that price. Jasper rebuilds motors So is it .30 over. Do they tell you the changes in the motor they put in your truck. Or did they rebuild your engine. Thank you

Just under $7000 is the combined cost of everything. Engine/labor/new fluids.... And they didn't rebuild my original engine. Jasper sent a rebuilt crate HEMI

$7k includes labor too. Full disclosure; the price for everything was $6976.83 after talking to Dwayne he gave me a cash price of $6,575. What an awesome guy. So that is what I paid to put a remanufactured Jasper 100,000 mi warranty engine in my truck. Hope this answers your question brother.

I'll ask a few stupid questions.... With these crate engines from Jasper has there been any issues with the exhaust manifold bolts breaking? Any issues with lifters and cams? I'm assuming if those issues did development it would be covered by Jasper warranty?

Can't really answer the question about the exhaust manifold bolts because 20,000 miles ago on my old engine I had put BBK shorty headers and stage 8 bolts on to take care of that problem. But as far as lifter rollers their website says they have taken care of this problem by beefing it up. and if something happens within 3 years or 100,000 mi it will be taking care of under warranty. Oh by the way if you're looking for the cost run down this is my specific situation. here's my breakdown: 5.7 hemi Jasper engine $4,685 Engine install kit $380 MDS solenoids $366 Anti-freeze coolant $51 Oil filter, oil change $28 labor $1,050 Total $6,976 Hope this helps.
