The owner of Hemlock CO and I worked worked out a deal to review a good part of his product line. The H60, P60 (not 25), H7, and K1 as well as one of his Padauk handled 3/8 inch ferro rod and here are the results of said review. Thanks for watching all.
Give away rules: Just comment that you're interested. You do not need to subscribe to this, or any channel. I will assign each individual commenter a number and randomly draw the names in about 2 weeks. The first place winner will receive the H7 and second place will receive the K1.
You can find Hemlock and more of his products:

That looks like a great product. I like the looks of that pocket version and the inclusion of a handle material that doubles as tinder is fantastic.

Thanks for responding to my question, but It dawned on me a few weeks ago that I remembered that concrete finishers use a magnesium float to smooth out their projects and bring the mortar ( the cream or butter, if you will ) to the surface and push the stone down leaving a smooth finish. Sooooo, since I like to recycle and save money, a friend of mine had an old float with a broken handle and gave it to me. first I cut the two thin sides off using my jig-saw and started drilling holes in them and catching the shavings in a small bucket. once I had accumulated a handful or so I made a small pile about the size of a quarter and struck my lighter to it and instantly had a white hot fire. I had to get a ferro rod and tried it that way also and worked perfectly. Now knowing that the magnesium float worked as well as the store bought rods I continued to drill several more holes saving the shavings in small zip lock bags for later use. I also cut the center bar of the float into 3 sections and drilled holes in each to put a lanyard/rope through. the center bar in the float is much thicker than the thin fins on the sides of the float so they should last a very long time. My next hunt is to find ferro rods for free too !!! Just thought I'd share this info. And thanks for the video, great job !!!

+J. p. McG Oh those work really really well, don't they? My buddy Travis Henry with Survive Without (kzbin.info) showed this off a few months ago. I actually went to the store and bought one just for that purpose lol Thanks for sharing J.P.!!

I haven't forgotten about this gang. I was hoping to let this roll to 200 views to get Hemlock as much exposure as my channel could give him but it's been long enough. I'll film the winners this weekend (6/29/2014 or 6/30/2014).

Hi, I do a lot of scrap metaling and am trying to find out what parts of engines, large or small that I can obtain magnesium metals and ferroseum from? Are these metals in batteries or small motors or other items? Thanks in advance, John.
@feralwoodcraft
@feralwoodcraft 8 жыл бұрын
+J. p. McG I do not know of any parts in engines that are ferroserium. Some motorcycle cases are magnesium I think but most engines are made of steel and aluminum I believe. I wish I could help you more but honestly don't know. Thanks!

I'm interested. Like your variety of tinder materials for the review. As Kullcraven Bushcraft mentioned, mag bars that I've used are hard. Didn't like them. This looks to be more user friendly. Congratulations on soon becoming a Dad, again. Hope that all goes well for all concerned. May God Bless.

The last I heard he is trying to get his site back up but for now is just selling off of his forum on bushcraft usa. That info is 4 months old so I can't be sure. That being said, hemlock supplies the Silver fire Stove Company and I know you can buy a couple models off their site. I'll do a bit of digging.
