This man is a national treasure. This was a great one. Check out his version of 'Starry, starry night' by Don Mclean. He sings the dutch version for Tim called 'Vincent'. Or watch him go country for Ruben with 'Your Man'. He even plays a litle bit guitar in that one.

I can't comment on him being an "Amsterdammer" but that sounds cool, but there is something about his cool and collected demeanour that just goes so well with the little jokes he makes, makes me enjoy seeing him more everytime i witness it.

Not having heard this since his grandmother passed on and Henk is going to gift this song to you... and such a beautifully sung version as well.. that is going to hit you hard, but in a good way. I'm sure this helped Rolf to find some closure and made him be able to hear the song again and remember the good days fondly, eventho it will always remain an emotional song for him. That voice of Henk pierces right through any walls you might have put up, he'll take them down and then force you to feel the love again you thought you lost. Henk really was the anchor that season, he put everyone at ease and put some back in touch with long forgotten feelings (or hidden away feelings, like he did with Rolf) And Rolf has no defense against it, you can see a million thoughts go through his head followed by a million emotions but in the end he's only left with joy and a feeling of warm love. I adore Rolf, he's such a nice guy, a loving guy who is in touch with his feelings and who simply cannot hide them. I would almost say "This is Henk at his best" but i cant, cause Henk is always at his best, this is what Henk does and he does it extremely well... what a voice, character and personality he has.. he's amazing. Thnx for the react my man, i've been waiting to see this pop up on your channel because i knew you would appreciate it deeply, the gift that was presented to Rolf and all of us.

I think my reaction makes it pretty clear that I agree with you, that this was a good thing for Rolf, but there is another point of view that this was too painful for Rolf and not something that should have been shared on television. After sitting back and reflecting on that for a bit, I can see some merit in that point, but at the same time, I am pretty sure Henk didn't know the story about Rolf's grandmother and that Rolf must have shared some details about her during the filming of the series. So based on that, I still sit on the same side of this topic, that this was a good thing in the end for Rolf, but maybe a bit more painful than he or the others may have expected it to be.

@@CUTnPASTEreacts yeah exactly, Henk might not have realized how deeply it was rooted for Rolf but all in all it was more than likely the thing he needed in the end. I'm sure he is very grateful that Henk gave him that precious gift after it all settled down for him. If anyone can do that, then i'd say Henk is the person for it :)

The last few days I was listening to Henk´s performances on Beste Zangers. I thought Floor was good, very very good. I thought that Floor was the center around whom this cast swirls. But somehow my opinion is changing. I think that more and more Henk is the center of gravity. We are so lucky to have him, to appreciate him.

It really was amazing to witness, it's one thing for an artist to perform for a group, but to have someone as talented as Henk perform such a personal song for an individual, it was just amazing to see how he really poured the emotions into it.

Beste Zangers has a long history in the Netherlands but not every year has such a high level as 2019 and some years are very Dutch-oriented. If you like the concept, you might like 2016 with OG3NE. Belgium has a similar program : Liefde voor muziek (Love for music). the year 2018 is interesting as they did have Sharon den Adel

Yes, Germany and France also have this show but I was not impressed...yet. I more and more am listening to Dutch or Flemish sung songs because of Beste zangers. We haven´t even scratch the surface of singers from Belgium. They have a lot of good ones. Will we ever hear Anouk in the Beste Zangers. Or Sarah Bettens...

Belgium has a same show called "Liefde voor muziek" (the love for music) . In one season Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation) did sing on the show. The song and the performance were great, of course, but I can't escape the feeling that this was a mistake. From looking at the faces, I think the rest of the cast thought so as well. This was too personal for Rolf. He practically begged Henk not to sing it. I felt like it was an assault.

Hey Randall, pretty clear from my reaction that I don't necesarily agree with you, but thank you for presenting this perspective. Your view did get me to sit down and reflected on the performance and again and can see where you are coming from. It is very clear that there is a REALLY STRONG reaction from Rolf to this song and that reaction definitley influenced how the others reacted to it as well. But thinking a bit more on it, I'm sure Henk didn't know anything about Rolf and his Grandmother, so this would have had to have been information that Rolf shared with the producers or Henk himself. So I agree this was probably a bit more painful initially for Rolf to experience but in the end if it was something that he really wanted to be off the table, he could have choosen to not share it. Please don't take that as a "blame the victim statement, that isn't my intent, but more along the lines that sometimes even things that are beneficial to us an be painful. I still stand by my opinion that this is something that Rolf will take with him as a positive as he moves forward, but I do think it was ALOT more painful that he expected it to be at the time.

This group received eachothers lists in November 2018, practised the songs (seperately) in The Netherlands, flew to the island of Ibiza in April 2019 and recorded the songs live in abt 4-5 days. In the 8 shows on Dutch tv they refer to each others songlists. Greetings from a Dutchie!
