There is something to understand about Lara.. she comes from the Brel and Aznavour and generally francophone tradition of Chanson. Where you "act" the song. You might sing, you might speak, you might recite, but it's a whole thing.. It's closer to musical theater than anything else.. great reaction my friend.

There is more than enough room for both Floor Jansen and Lara Fabian to be exceptional. "Who is better?" is entirely subjective. We could debate up, down, and around in circles - and we'd both be right. I adore them both. 💖 Why must we back ourselves into the perpetual corner of an either/or dichotomy?! I will never understand this...

Her timbre is something else. I'm the Contralto daughter of a trained Contralto basso who has always been naturally drawn to contraltos. Man, Fabian is the only soprano ever that has hit my ear like liquid velvet. Her absolute stunning technical mastery married to her perfect artistic choices: just stunning.

Oh, the reason I was going to comment. I've liked several of Dion's songs a lot. But my god, the comparison tonally between her and Fabian is like a box of 8 Crayola crayons vs the 120 Deluxe Box. I'm kind of ticked off that we Americans were robbed of Fabian. 😢

Lara composes many songs. Beautifully. She didn't write this one but, having seen the original I believe she masterfully surpasses it. No-one else inhabits & delivers it with all of it's emotional dynamic it's nuances power & sheer beauty better. A Master Class in not only flawless technique but also stage presence & how to totally engage your audience. Stunningly good.

Welcome to the club! I only discovered Fabian myself a little over a year ago through this jaw-dropping performance. She is famous for her absolutely sterling technique/control + otherworldly emotive performance abilities. I've come to realize she is something of a vocal chameleon - with her artistic instincts and craft skills, she can choose exactly how to present the heart of the story at the most granular level. Because story is all to her: she is fluent and writes in French, English, Italian, Spanish. Calls herself a "songwriter with a voice." I'd love to see your reaction to more of her work. Think you'd love her Caruso in Italian from this same concert From Lara With Love. Or Pedere L'Amore. Rock solid singing at low volume to soaring cathedral-wide belts. Thanks for your thoughtful comments! 🖖🏽

Lara Fabian is a living legend for the last few decades. She is simply amazing at ACTING the lyrics. I've heard the same strong emotional pull come through in her English songs (perfect English), French songs (perfect French), Italian songs (perfect Italian). I'm not as familiar with her other languages, so I cannot tell how well she sang in them. She now inspires a new generation of awesome singers such as Floor Jansen (who you already love with excellent reasons) and Dimash Kudaibergen (possibly the best vocalist of our generation). A wonderful reaction idea would be if you react to Lara's and Dimash's Adagio performances, or their performance of "Mademoiselle Hyde". There is something so special when one listens to a song and realize one is listening to greatness personified!

Lara Fabian is an artist who puts her heart and soul into every song. She is also very versatile, she writes her own songs, Lara speaks French, Spanish, Italian, Arabic and English. She has also sung in Azerbaijani, German, Greek, Hebrew, Portuguese, Russian and Turkish (maybe even more). I also had French for a year, unfortunately, because it is a beautiful language. You should check out her version of Caruso (preferably one with subtitles), a powerful, exquisitely beautiful and touching performance of an incredibly beautiful song. It's about the final moments of opera legend Enrico Caruso, a dying man looking into the eyes of the woman he loves. They know he's dying, but they are not ready to lose each other. He can feel her pain and sadness, and it's breaking his heart. A truly touching and beautiful song that has been sung by greats such as Luciano Pavarotti. But Lara's performance, in my opinion, best conveys its beauty and depth of emotion. It gets me every time.

I’m new to your channel and enjoyed your reaction to Lara. Do Broken Vowel it’s in English. Also have you ever heard Dimash Kudaibergen? If not, you really have to! He does an amazing cover of Adagio too. 😍🇬🇧

Definitely check out her duet (concert version) w/Johnny Halliday “Requiem Pour un Fou” A different style than you have heard from her compared to her other popular pieces.

I advise you to listen to Lara Fabian's song "Adagio" performed by Kazakh Dimash Kudaibergen on "I am a singer". It's just great. Completely different, but such a joyful performance. Recently Lara Fabian, together with the Russian composer Igor Krutoy, wrote a new song for Dimash, "Your Love". Dimash also performed with Lara Fabian more than once. You just need to listen and you will fall in love with it!

@@CUTnPASTEreacts no problem ;). Like all the countries, lot of good artists in france and you can't know all ! like Claude Francois who wrote "comme d'habitude" in 1967. This song become in english: "My way" . If you want more french singers, Charles Aznavour is a great one. but I don't know if english sub exists. Another one: the first duet Lara Fabian - Johnny Halliday: "Johnny & Lara les enfoirés 98". It's a duet during a live for a charity cause. Epic !

I think I was one of the people that told you to watch her live performances and now you know why. I’m not a huge fan of Floor but I can certainly recognize that she has an amazing voice, it’s just not that different from other good singers. Lara has a unique sound. If you want to see Lara in a very different performance, please do “ requiem pour un fou” . It’s a duet, very powerful.

Just ignore those people discussing who is better, it's silly and very shortsighted. Every good singer has their own character, style, attraction. Just enjoy good music and good singers!

I find him annoying to listen to. Yes he has an amazing range but it sometimes feels like he's doing an exercise to show off. Not a fan of his pseudo operatic style. I realize my opinion is going against the grain but I just don't find him pleasurable. Lara on the other hand, I can't get enough of.

What is shocking is that until recently I had never heard of her. The media is full of untalented manufactured pop stars, and Lara oculd sing every one of them off the stage.

It is the culture of today my friend, music or otherwise, If your opinion differs, there is no debate. you are just wrong and should be crushed, no commonality or objectivity. LOL the fact is a simple one Laura has been a successful top tier artist foe thirty plus years. that is a fact. thumbs up great reaction, and very grounded sir.

Different song, different emotion, but at the same time if people are able to read the emotional content the way it was meant to feel without it themselves feeling it all of a sudden it becomes a battle. That is never the intention of the artist, it is to convey the emotion. I can become emotional when I hear a song like Kiss from a Rose by Seal, put it on and I can become extremely uncomfortable but next day I can become jubilant. That is on me, not the singer. He just is soundboard for both components of the myriad of colours we all have. All those words wasted who is right or wrong is futility squared. I like some singers, some others I abhor. There is always a reason why I don't 'like' a particular singer, but that is MY choice.

I Agree, and artist creates art, regardless of the medium, and it's up to us to either appreciate it or not. And I totally agree a song I hear today might be great and tomorrow a bit annoying. it's all up to me and how I interpret at that time.
