I have cried four times in the last 30 years. Birth of my three kids and Teddies winning yesterday. A very, very, impressive crew!

Fantastic rowing from Teddies crew all week. Proved their point from Nat schools that they are the best school boy crew of 2023.

No comment about the size advantage that St. Edward,'s had. Although St. Edward's had steering issues they rowed well. St. Paul's is a powerhouse, so it was a great race.

Teddies is the biggest schoolboy crew I’ve seen for a while. Looks like a Temple entry.

Shoulda seen some of the top American crews this year... New Trier comes to mind. To a man they look like 25 year old senior national team rowers.

A little late here with the congratulations for St. Edwards… just checked in. A fair win! From SPS class of ‘79.

Many congrats to St Edward’s. Very well rowed. Love the KZbin coverage, but would have liked a slightly more balanced commentary….one to note for next year but felt like a lot of praise for St Paul’s, their style, their peaking for this, any sniff and then will win etc. Offset by comments about St Edward’s steering (same for most on that station). I think St Edward’s have a very loose and long rowing style, which held up well when Paul’s came back at them. Great event, year after year.

A good big'un will beat a good little 'un, especially into a head wind and that's what happened here. It'd be interesting to see the weights of the crews compared, but St Edward's certainly look a lot bigger.

@@paddymcdo7892 the only people above that in the st pauls boat were 3 and 5 seat so they did have a slightly heavier boat
@rorymcdonnell1979 Жыл бұрын
@@blueninja3782 I'm not sure what your point is. at the end of the day the faster crew won, yes we were heavier but we were also stronger. Going back to the point of headwind, this probably helped Pauls as we put 5 seconds into them at Wallingford when the conditions were flat...
@blueninja3782 Жыл бұрын
I never said that the outcome was anything to do with weights of the crews, the best crew won on the day and that is all there is to say about it@@rorymcdonnell1979

Amazing race, Teddies, especially in unfavourable lane conditions. What's with the commentary? Constantly complimenting 'the giants' of St. Paul's... little or nothing for Teddies, who also won this year National Schools title...

Commentator bias. You'll definitely hear that in certain oxford brookes races too.

So much hubbub about lanes being unfair at Nat Schools, only for Teddies to win again. Something something Shiplake... People love to blame their losses on anything except themselves. In all my years in this sport, I've yet to see a single claim of "unfair lanes" backed up by substantial evidence.

When I did National Schools Regatta at Holme Pierrepont Nottingham in the 1970s, the lane next to the raised bank & bushes bordering the whitewater kayak course was always noticeably smoother than the middle lanes.
@lactoese Жыл бұрын
How about 80%of wins in reading amateur regatta being on the embankment lane. Kind of evidence is it not. And at dorney it is very clear that there is often a head crosswind which means that lanes on the far side get much for wind and waves than the lanes 1 and 2
