*Works so well **Fastly.Cool** for rv that it only requires daytime operation until high temp and humidity are overnight. It is difficult to get to side filters, but back is easily accessible.*

Thanks for the video. I went ahead and picked one up today after watching this.

I start my rear AC up then turn the thermostat down to it's lowest setting so it runs all the time. Then start the second AC and run it as I normally would.

Great product, but be SURE to know your AC model number . Do not guess! A call to Softstart helped me to find the model number of my Coleman-Mach, and then Danny R sent me the latest wiring instructions and instructions. Wonderful customer support!

If my AC unit (Dometic 13500 BTU) suggests a minimum generator size of 3500 W, do you think a 2200 W generator with a Softstart would do the trick? If I can't run other appliances simultaneously, I can live with that if it means a smaller generator.

I would have mounted the Soft Start up and down . Right now it looks like condensation could travel down the wires into the unit.

No contractor or capacitor needed ? 2:23 I think that should read, no contactor or capacitor. However, that statement is still true. No contractor, (unless you consider yourself to be the contractor) contactor or capacitor needed.

Save yourself $300. Run a 20 Amp 120v cut extention cord(male) thru the floor of your rv to the breaker for your 2nd a/c, and disconnect the house wires and cap them off. Then wire in your cut end of the 20 Amp (male) extension cord. Properly secure it at both ends, so a pull on it will not yank it out. Now plug the male into the shortest run of 20 Amp extension cord you can to the 20 Amp plug in the power post, and you can run both a/c. As an edit. Do read the stickers inside of the power post. There are still a few very old sites that only supply a total of 30 amps shared with the 30 Amp and 20 Amp plugs and specifically warn you not to use both concurrently. They are rare but they do exist.

Reducing available amperage for compressor startup is harder on the motor but easier on electrical system...why not add a hot shot capacitor so the power for startup is available without as significant system draw
@Henleyshappytrailsplus3 жыл бұрын
Good Question. I believe you are talking about a hard starter. Those are great if you are running super long extension cords, but as far as allowing an AC to start with say an inverter generator, it wouldn't do much good. (see article below) A soft starter doesn't reduce available amperage, rather it delivers a smooth ramp-up of voltage rather than the traditional method where current and torque are applied immediately. The result is a startup that draws fewer amps during startup because the motor isn't trying to go from 0 to 100 immediately. Once the motor is up to speed the soft starter switches itself out of the loop so there is no limiting of any kind going on. The whole process happens in the span of about 300ish milliseconds, so there is no prolonged limiting of voltage or current going on on the motor. This may actually result in a smoother start, that is easier on the moving parts because the initial start is less jarring on the physical components. Sources www.softstartrv.com/faq/ Q. Will SoftStartRV reduce or extend the lifecycle of my compressor? No. SoftStartRV works only during the start of the motor then switches itself out of the circuit. Because most compressors stop mechanically before they fail electrically, SoftStartRV does not change the durability of the compressor. @@SleepyJoeisSlow Of course, and that is more important than the followers!!. 🙃 I put in a Micro-Air Easy Start. Install went very well and the Micro-Air does its job. I can easily start my air conditioner on a 15a 110V outlet at friend, I can see it perform on the blue tooth. Excellent.
