Add mods to the stock BMW and the race would have been BMW winning. This is trying to compare apples to oranges in an apple tasting contest. Add performance aftermarket turbos, intake and exhaust with tuning to the BMW, then race these same two cars again. I do own a modified 1996 Mustang GT and a stock 2011 BMW X5 idrive50i. My stock twin turbo 4.4L V-8 (a modular 4/cam 4/valve engine) will smoke the modified non PI 2V modular Mustang engine with a PI intake, Trick Flow upper plenum, BBK 75mm throttle body, BBK chrome long tube headers, BBK H pipe, no catalytic converters with mill eliminator, exhaust ended at end of the H-pipe (I lived in rural Utah-no smog testing and state inspections were eliminated), rebuilt world class T-45, and stock 3:27 posi-trac 8.8 inch rear end. This shaved a full two seconds off the Mustang's drag strip ET, but the stock BMW will run at least 2 seconds quicker than the heavily modified Mustang GT. This is about the same situation as this mismatched drag race. If you are going to race this way, then Hennessey needs to set up a real drag strip with all the timing lights and equipment, then bracket race the two unmatched cars to test what counts in drag racing, and that is consistency between race after race, with the most consistent ET car designated the winner. Everybody knows a Porche will beat a Yugo in a heads up drag race, but the table might be turned around with the bracket racing consistency.

Dyno’d horsepower on a M8 competition is 617 and 553 lb/ft. And it weighs in at 4295lb. The Hennessy land at 850hp and 650lb/ft and weighs in at 3900lb so you’re the goofy one. Get the facts before you start calling people goofy. This is simply a promotional video for Hennessy. Don’t get me wrong, Hennessy build some fantastic cars. But this is a complete mismatch, also would be interesting to see these cars do a few rounds on a good track. But done by an objective team.

I spent $4500 on a bumper to bumper extended warranty policy, with minor exceptions, and since then have racked up roughly $8000 in repair bills. I paid less than $30,000 on a 500hp twin turbo’d all aluminum V8 F1 designed aluminum skinned wolf in sheep’s clothing, that window stickered for $97,500 not more than 55,000 miles ago… everything works. The car is a complete animal. To say is scored is an understatement. A 2012 Ford f150 with over 100k miles on it is worth more than this bmw. 🤣 But which would you rather have

The race wasn't close, but the M8 makes absolutely bonkers power. BMW claims "617hp" which is a joke. The S63tu4 makes about 575-590 at the WHEELS, completely stock. M8 makes like 690-710 actual horsepower in stock form lol.

That's a great win for the Dark Horse! Because those BMWs run about 10.70s out the box at about 130 mph in the quarter, with AWD. Great mods Hennessy! Go FORD for the win!!! I'd like to see that package on a GT convertible! I'm a rag top man!

@@genesyz- HEY man! Hey... HENNESSY SET THIS RACE UP, I DIDN'T!!! The Bimmer is AWD too and has more tech. And it's stock horsepower rating is quite underestimated (conservative) as well. No mere 600 horsepower car that weighs 4,500 lb should be running 10.70s @ a Buck thirty. German cars grossly underestimate their true power. I shopped one of these at Richmond BMW- -it was burgundy with the dark grayish top. Cool enough car. Not enough car for $ 160,000 though. Hell, my C6 ZR1 was only $122,000 and a lot more fun to drive. The point is: these guys will meet at a local drag strip. So Mustang/ Corvette versus BMW races can happen.... Gotta be ready...
