I got my AR7 recently. It shoots great, I have five mags for it, and out of five hundred rounds, I've had two hangups. Mine doesn't like the Winchester hollow points very well. I've never had a misfire with mine, and, you might note, on mine anyway, the firing pin does not hit the barrel. I get a dry fire from every clip, and no markings on the barrel at all.

That’s good to know. Thanks for the info.

None of my .22's like Winchester hollow points. I don't like them either.

Very good practical shooting review of the gun.

The sight is adjustable, and it can also be flipped to go from larger to smaller peep hole

I popped a 4 x 50 Nikon scope on mine a year back. It was an extra fun plinking day taking it out to 200 yards.

@@cherrycitygunsandammo1011 Are you sure? I've never seen one that didn't have two different holes in it. I will say that I've also never seen one that didn't have an orange front blade and now that's all they show on their website, so maybe they have changed. That would be a bad change, IMHO. BTW the front blade is drift adjustable for windage. On my 2 YO version, as well as my Armalite AR-7, it can be done with just a stick and some side pressure. I always like to know what ammo is being shot in videos like this, so do you remember? These guns seem to require regular cleaning to keep them running, since .22lr is so dirty. They were made for signalling for help, shooting small game in an emergency situation, and for overtaking an enemy combatant so a soldier or airman could capture a BETTER, more reliable weapon to further his survival. They aren't really for extended shooting without some TLC.

The original manufacturer was armalite, the manufacture of the original ar-15. AR stands for Armalite not assault rifle as many naïve individuals will state. The air force original caliber were more a powerful .22 version not rimfire, but a .22 hornet. This may have been a ar-5 version

I use CCI mini-mags and CCI Quiet. The Quiet's don't cycle all the time, but they are very hushed.

Got mine a few days ago. Cleaned it, like I do with any new gun. Took it to the range and put 150 rounds thru it. Different ammo, federal, Winchester, CCI. Flawless. Not one problem. Great gun. This one is a keeper.

It’s really is great especially considering the price.

One dry fire for every mag. You better order your son a new firing pin now 😂😂😂
@luckyl47463 ай бұрын
If you load the first round in the mag, using a snap cap, it won't dry fire.

Armalite is the original manufacturer. They are known also as the AR7, made by eugene stoner. Same guy who made ar 10, ar 15 etc

You are lucky. My Henry AR7 is basically a semi-auto bolt action rifle. Haha! And I am running factory OEM Henry mags. And I have tried different brands, grains, std vel, high vel, hyper vel, 22 ammo. Thems is the breaks. I need to make time and send it to Henry for evaluation/repair.
@cherrycitygunsandammo1011 Жыл бұрын
I would. This one seems to run really well, especially considering that it’s basically had zero break in period.

A few things about the Henry AR7. It is reliable and will run as long as you do not damage the feed ramps on the mags or you will have to get new mags. The mags are its weak point. Use original Henry mags. Aftermarket mags do not run because they do not have the wire keeper on the mag that makes the mags reliable like the Henry mags. Henry made the AR7 reliable with the mag design change which it was not before under Charter Arms. The butt cap will stretch and loosen over time so put a strip of duct tape around the butt edge to snug it up again. It is corrosion and water resistant and will float but its not waterproof. It is not an everyday shooting rifle. It is an emergency survival rifle. Yes it is okay to dry fire it as it was designed that way with no bolt hold open, provided the gun is fully and properly assembled (for example, dry firing it without an upper and bolt in place will break the receiver eventually, as the hammer smacks the thin aluminum wall of the receiver). It prefers high velocity ammo and the hotter the better. Thanks for sharing.

My original Armalite AR-7 cycles very reliably with its mag and with Henry mags. Charter Arms just produced junk all the way around, so it wasn't the original design that was bad, they just couldn't produce their own design worth a damn and the gun was crap after they got a hold of it.

Q: I noticed the front sight on the barrel is not orange? Did you replace the barrel?
@mrhalfstep27 күн бұрын
Mine has the orange sight that you usually see. I bought it new a couple of years ago. I notice that all of the different color schemes on the Henry Website now show black front blades.

I’ve owned a few of these in the past. Nice little rifle, but I never warmed up to the whole idea. Too many 22LR rifles I liked more. Sold them and didn’t look back. Nice review 🤙🏻
