Happy New Year. Thanks for reviewing this! One correction to share: You keep mentioning a pin and collar system, and I can't stand those, so it was very off-putting to hear that. However, the bracelet on these doesn't use a pin and collar system!

@@PeterKotsa Yeah I bought the meteorite dial Nordso and it has screw links
@gregcarnall9097 Жыл бұрын
I have the meteorite dial and the bracelet has push pins, the owner even has put out a video showing people how to change them. My watch also came with the tool to push out the pins. It was very straight forward to do. There seems to be a view in the watch world that push pins are in some way a downgrade from screws, but i see so many posts about screws being glued in and unable to remove or working themselves loose, or the heads being stripped as the slot is so small. Push pins are very secure and so easy to adjust and i dont think i have ever seen a post where one has failed. Overall its a very nice watch and the build is excellent, my clasp was also a little stiff to close, but would rather it be a little stiff than too loose.

I've got the meteorite dial Nordso. Absolutely beautiful piece - gorgeous! I often find myself staring at the dial, lost in the patterns of the 4 billion year old Muonionalusta meteorite, thinking about space, time, and our place in the universe. Ether that or just "damn that looks cool". Probably more the latter. The bezel is a fingerprint magnet but I expected that because so too is my Ginault Ocean Rover II - it's par for the course for a glossy black ceramic bezel. The lume on the skeletonised hands could come down a fraction towards the pinion I agree, but it's still better than what you find on a Seammaster Diver 300m skeleton hands (the superceded model at least), and yet no one seems to gripe about that, so go figure?! It seems like microbrands come in for more harsh reviews, and yet the "classics" from the big brands often escape these same criticisms. Others have complained about no numerals on the bezel. That's silly IMHO. Anyone can count in lots of 5's when timing eggs or steak which is what most people will use this for. This is a desk diver that's 100% fine in the ocean too. Even the submariner's dull grey platinum numbers are basically unreadable underwater... but see my former info about how the big brand classics always seem to escape these petty criticisms. If someone's actually going diving then take a dedicated dive timer computer or a big chunky Seiko like a Marine Master. The comments section are filled with people with crazy ideas.

Love the look-n-feel, love the on-the-fly adjustments. Henry Archer seems to be going in the right direction for sure! I was able to get my hands on the Nordlys Nebula version and absolutely love it! But, I do agree that the knurling on the bezel could be more agressive. It makes its operation much more challenging. I must note, however, that this TMS version looks fantastic and, with that 20 mm, quick release on the bracelet, it's a no-brainer to buy it with the bracelet and simply change it with a FKM (green) rubber strap and "Bob's your uncle" ... "You're off the the races" 🙂 Thanks for sharing. You da man and hope to see you again and again in 2024, brother.

I caught a review over at Jonathan T Reviews and there were some questions amongst us, questions watchmakers don't necessarily want to answer. At least in their ads. So I emailed the owner, being a Dane myself, and he gave an honest and exhaustive answer. That right there told me, that it's a watchmaker with pride in his trade and integrity. I'm not sure it's my style, but at least to me they scored a lot of goodwill, and definitely a company I'll be keeping my eye on.

I have the Henry Archer Akva in green. The colour is amazing, love it. I was a bit unsure about the brushed steel bezel but now that I have it, I couldn't imagine it being anything else. I do have a few gripes, no deal breakers, though. It doesn't need an exhibition case back. The Miyota movement is an excellent choice for this watch but it's nothing to look at. I don't need to see it. Other gripe is actually functionally annoying. The links in the bracelet are longer than the range of adjustment in the clasp. Long story short, this will mean some people can't get a good fit for the bracelet. HA are not the only ones to do this, it could easily be rectified by offering half links. Thankfully I've discovered this watch looks much better on a brown leather strap so that is what it's staying on.
@BigNews2021 Жыл бұрын
Very pretty watch, and I love that dial. As for the gripes listed here, I do agree about the skeleton hands would've been better extended a bit closer to the pinion. But that's such a minor thing. I do have one gripe of my own. I use the bezel in my dive watches very often, I find them very useful. So a bezel with no Arabic numbers, at the very least at the quarter hour, to quickly read elapsed time at a glance, it's kind of a deal-breaker for me. What a shame.

In the side profile the lugs don't seem to offer much downturn, I believe many watches in the 50s were designed this way. But it doesn't seem to affect how the watch wears on wrist. Their logo is very nice as well. Happy New Year mate.

Hi peter , great review , not a fan of the knurling on this particular watch. It doesnt go with the the beads of rice bracelet in terms of style. Its too masculine, and the BOR , is more dressy , elegant. I know doxa used to have quite masculine watch heads on a beads of rice, but kind of worked, i think in this instance , its a bit of a mismash. I read the comments before i commented on this and was astounded to see someone was unsubscribing , because they said you always had negative comments on watches. Made me laugh , thats the whole point people , its peters channel and he gives his views , as he feels fit. I dont always agree with your preferences , as everbody has different tastes , but i always value your input , because you say it how it is , or makes you feel. I dont think some people realise the work you put into these videos , but its always going to be your opinion , and thats a good thing mate !!!

Ultimately all Nordsø versions have been very limited and there are many colourways. I think all but perhaps the meteorite are more affordable than this and in my opinion they are also more attractive. From the whole range I'd probably look out for the Neon II because that colourful combination has become somewhat of a brand icon. There are arguably a few too many variants and together with the limited availability that just feels a little like artificial scarcity to me. One downside for me is the relatively flat mirror on top created by the crystal and bezel together. The graphic playfulness in the design is the main hero for me.

Pretty except that ugly knurling. They could have done better. I do have an increasingly difficult time distinguishing a highly styled watch with a cheap, off-the-shelf movement from the universally derided "designer watch."

So I've watched this guy's reviews for a while and I just unsubscribed. No matter what happens he's always complaining about stuff that is not objectively wrong just not his taste and makes it seem like it's a negative against the watch as if something was done wrong. That's not good reviewing. If you have personal taste that's fine but don't comment on a watch as if they've done something wrong when it's just because you don't like it. Ridiculous
