Thanks, Buffalo! A great combination to cover! This just seems to be a very useful rifle/cartridge combination. It covers the small to medium game range...squirrels to deer...better than a .357 Mag or 9mm chambered carbine. The lever gun allows you to use all sorts of performance levels without worrying about functioning the gun. Aside from the variety of ammo you can use, a handloader can use one cartridge case, say the .327 Mag., and duplicate the performance of anything from .32 S&W on up. The cost of all these cartridges makes this an excellent choice for a handloader. .32 S&W performance, in any length case, is not "overkill" for small game. The .327 with full loads, could be adequate for deer if the range is not too long and shot placement is good. For hunting varmints/predators, it would be outstanding! Henry has really picked up their game and now offers a great variety of rifles. Where Winchester and Marlin seem to have stumbled in the last few years, Henry has taken up the slack. Lever guns are still relevant and very useful. "Ballistic pop"🤣 We all know what "Kentucky windage" is...now we have "Kentucky ballistic pop"

From my personal perspective, anything that applies to the .32 stuff also applies to the .38 stuff. Both the magnum and specials in the .38 caliber range are less expensive and far more available. Now, that's not to say the .32 won't become more available and buying the stuff also motivates manufacturers to produce it. But for shooting deer at typical woods-ranges? Be more concerned about ethical practices than just how little it takes to kill one. Stick with .357 mag or greater when it comes to hunting deer. I'm sure someone has anecdotal information how they dropped a deer at 100 yards with a .22LR, but that proves absolutely nothing about ethics. There's a reason why there are regulations on ammunition caliber and types for hunting, even though not all of it makes perfect sense.
@garyK.45ACP
@garyK.45ACP 5 жыл бұрын
@@exothermal.sprocket I do not suggest the .327 is a good deer cartridge. Most, but not all, states limit deer cartridges to .24 caliber or larger. I grew up in Texas, where "any centerfire" is legal and killed deer with both .22 Hornet and .30 Carbine. Quite cleanly and ethically. Killing a deer at 30 yards with a head shot from a .22 Hornet is ethical. Shooting at a deer at 200 yards with a .22 Hornet is not. Knowing the difference is where ethics comes in. Basing one's deer cartridge choice on state laws is daft. They were not my deer cartridge of choice. (That would be the .300 Savage) They were what was available for a target of opportunity. Ammo availability and price for .32 ammo is going to be a chronic problem...if you don't handload. If you do, it will never be a problem. Even better, if you cast your own bullets, shooting these cartridges will be in the price range of .22 LR. Lay in a couple hundred .327 cases and load them as needed for the game. As I said, the combination strikes me as being very useful for the small to medium game range.

@@garyK.45ACP I don't diminish the fact .32 is going to be a very versatile caliber in these handgun cartridges, especially for handloaders. But again, .38 does everything the .32 does, with a bit more power, more availability, firearms chamber it all across the board, and for deer it's a good bet for double-lung shots (the only ethical shot on any deer, period!). I find the .32 stuff very interesting, and I would love to shot it. But I'm going to buy .38 chambers when it comes to my own $$. Concerning shot placement, if you have the patience hear this gentleman out.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fImthZ5mi8ypj6s

I love revolver/lever rifle combo's fan for years. Have a pair in .44 and .357 and this has been on my bucket list for a long time. Love the 32 H&R Mag since the 80's. With .327 it gets really versatile. Reminds me of the old 32-20 rifle/revolver combos of years past.

Here's some useless but (hopefully) interesting trivia. I've been reading Glenda Riley, The Life and Legacy of Annie Oakley (1994). Oakley mostly shot shotguns, but for rifle shooting she apparently often used .32-calibre. According to the book (p. 68), one of her favourite rifles was a Winchester Model 1892 lever action in .32/20 that had been made specially for her.
@mbuchart2927
@mbuchart2927 4 жыл бұрын
Okay, here's one more fun fact from the book. Annie Oakley said that in a typical year during her shooting performance career, she used about 40,000 rounds of ammunition. Now that's a lot of practice!

Well here's another gun I desperately don't need but can't live without. I don't have any 327 magnum revolvers, but I have been lusting for a Ruger in that caliber. I do have several H&R and S&W revolvers in 32 S&W long and one 1895 Nagant revolver. I shoot 32 S&W long in my Nagant. I do not recommend this the 32 S&Ws swell to fit the chamber and I have never suffered a ruptured case, but that is in my gun with the ammunition I used. Your mileage may differ or you may be part lizard and able to regrow fingers. I am looking real hard at The Ruger Single Seven with the 7.5" barrel, the Henry would make a great companion piece.
@SynthiaVan
@SynthiaVan 3 жыл бұрын
I hope they re-release this caliber in the new side-gate generation, and I would absolutely be head over heels for a Mare's Leg variant of that! Maybe with, idunno, a threaded octagon barrel, too? Can a gal dream?? Guns chambered up to .32 H&R Mag and/or .327 FedMag are really too few and far between (and expensive), so it feels like younger, less-well-off folks like myself are at a huge buying disadvantage for such great magnum chamberings on the secondary market. More 32s all around!

@Clayton Pope I have been loading for a remington model 25[ Pedersen patent]. Rifle is in good condition and shoots well. Yes you have to measure length of brass and sort before reloading. I load 100grain jacketed with 13.5 grains ADI 2205 [Australian powder] probably improved version of IMR 4227. These are doing about 1720 fps, for rifle only not hand gun. Much fun. Like those Henrys.

@@dduckman1423 I too shoot 32-20 from a Remington model 25. I have found that mine really struggles to feed starline brass. Have you had any similar experiences? @dduckman1423
@dduckman1423 4 жыл бұрын
@@fishcars8078 Mainly Winchester brass, but all sorts. Sometimes thicker brass becomes springy and will not resize properly with use,brass may require annealing. Chambering leverage is not very strong in these rifles and cartridges have to be exact size, full length resizing is necessary. Have fun.

Been reloading the various 32's for about 40 years and enjoyed them all the way as well as saved money in the meantime. The small investment in reloading equipment over 40 years ago have made the shooting sport both enjoyable and affordable. Can highly recommend the 32's for fun and economy. And what a great caliber to introduce a young shooter to a handgun or rifle as you move them up from the lower powered 32's up to a 327 Fed Mag. Have shot all five of the rounds you shot today through some of the revolvers, too. Oh, and I do have the Kel Tec P32 in my collection, although it is not a primary CCW gun.

Rewatched this one. Thought I commented earlier but didn’t find it. Love mine and have two revolvers chambered in 327. I was tickled when I figured out mine cycles 32 long. No ear protection needed.

Hey Buffalo, that was interesting. It's cool to have a rifle that will shoot, cycle and eject different ammo. Buy whats available or on sale !! It's like casting the same bullet in different weights for different guns. 45's for my Ruger SR 1911 ACP, my Marlin long Colt rifle, and Ruger revolvers :-))

If that 327 federal magnum were as cheap to shoot as 9mm I’d buy a few guns to plink with, but I can’t justify it. Thanks for the video it was fun.

Have you changed the camera? The image has a nice depth and looks rich. Or maybe it's just the fall colors? Could be both.

I haven't changed cameras in quite some time but I do have a few different ones that I use. I am learning to get the most out of them. I am not really a camera guy so it's been a slow learning curve. Thank you for noticing!
