I prefer tube loading all the way. It's just much faster and way easier on the fingers. The side gate is great for when you've only fired a couple shots and want to top yourself off. It's really nice to have both options available. I'm glad you enjoyed the footage!

I prefer both. Load thru the gate unload thru the tube. Always remember 2 rounds left in gun must be ejected.

@@konnyknees ok. It’s me again. On my Henry rifle when unloading from the tube dump you still have two rounds left in the gun that must be ejected using the lever. Sorry I had to think about it for awhile. Stay safe my friend.

Nice rifle congrats but I do have one question. Maybe I missed something but what is the reason for the one glove?? TMJ ammo means no exposed lead. Just sayin....

Thanks so much for watching. The large lever loop can beat up your knuckles if you shoot a lot with it. They make really nice looking leather wraps or paracord weaves you can wrap around the bottom of the lever loop for this purpose, but I just use a glove because I want to keep my lever loop bare.

Yes, it fires the same .38 Special and .357 Magnum ammunition you would use in a revolver.

I’m disappointed in mine. The wood fits poorly and the stock is cracked by the tang making the buttstock loose. The bluing is sandblasted matte finish instead of the deep shiny blue of other Henry rifles, the wood is blocky and not hand fit like the others, and the action is gritty due to the cheap sandblast finish on the action. Other Henry rifles are notably better on fit and finish. Please inspect it closely and compare to other Henry rifles before purchase. Mine is going back in for repair before taking its first shot. Bonehead move on my part for trusting the name and not closely inspecting.

I suspect Henry will make it right. They have one of the better reputations for customer service. The action should smooth out with use too. It’s just kinda sad to see the cheapening of products. I guess there is a reason this rifle was a few hundred dollars cheaper than the Winchester I was comparing it to. Good luck with yours!

So sorry to hear you got yours in less than ideal shape. I'm also pretty certain Henry will make it right before they get it back to you, you're right about their reputation for good service. I hope it sings for you when it's returned. I don't think you were wrong in trusting in the name, depending on the store I've purchased from sometimes inspecting the firearm before purchase might not even be an option. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a new product to be "like new". Best of luck to you, would love to hear what you think of it once you get it back.

Update: the dealer (Henry top 100) simply took the stock off another rifle and swapped them. He said he would get a replacement from Henry for his. It still doesn’t exactly fit perfect. But that is a limitation in the tolerances of the machining. Fitting the peep sight took some love from a hammer but it’s ok now. Functions fine. I still think my next purchase will be on the Winchester side. I’m willing to pay the extra. The Japanese winchesters are better if you are detail minded like me. Probably won’t be buying another Henry. It still reminds me of a budget clone instead of an American name brand.
