It seems Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer, lost some confidence at the interview but the show's costars Henry Cavill (Geralt) and Joey Batey (Jaskier) make her feel appreciated by acknowledging her acting skills.

Anya is such a perfect Yennefer. She’s so talented and intuitive. I don’t think anyone could’ve pulled off the necessary nuance of her storyline this season to make her so vulnerable and endearing even when she’s behaving pretty villainous than Anya.

I think the role is horribly written, especially in the second season… her acting is good, the cast is a total miss for me, because here character in the books is total different, and that’s a great antagonist to Geralt in the way… that’s why he (in the books) try’s to behave more upper class, to impress her… I hate what they had made out of her… what startet as interesting character arc (become powerful, get happy with a baby ) is a total mess now, with the whole betray thing…

Anya doesn't get hate for her interpretation, she gets hate from racists for her ethnicity. And their only motivation for complementing her here is that she is indeed one of the most talented among that bunch :)

It's not Anya that gets hate. It's the showrunner and script. And it's a deserved criticism. If you're familiar with Witcher franchise you know how show turned interesting woman into teenager in rage. Anya is a sweet person and very talented actress who could be even better Yennefer with such skills. But creators had different idea.

@@pawemozol5997 to be fair even if freya and anya read the books, as long as the showrunners don't want to stick to the books, there's nothing to be done. Like you said, Henry is an expert and yet this season was disappointing (and I haven't read the books).

The thing we must do here is forget that books exist. I know its supposed to be the story from books, but the TV series went their own way and if you want to enjoy watching the witcher, you must think of it as there arnt any books.
