@JR-ju3kj2 жыл бұрын
Agreed, I think it's funny that apparently the people who were formerly in top executive positions at Warner Brothers thought that at 39, Henry Cavill was too old to play Superman, which I thought was utterly ridiculous. He's in great shape and takes good care of himself and as long as he keeps doing that, he could easily play Superman at least until he's close to 50. You've got lots of older actors in action-oriented roles in their 40s, 50s, 60s and even SOME in their 70s! The Rock is 11 years older than Cavill and doing action- roles( like Black Adam), so the idea that Henry Cavill is too old as someone in his forties( I know that he's 39 now but by the time a new Superman movie happens, he'll be in his forties, obviously) to play Superman was never something I ever agreed with at all.

What a bittersweet moment. People cheering loud at his portrayal as Geralt... and then two days later we discover he is leaving the show. The real reason is probably due to his re-signing on as Superman rather than any creative issues with the show. The writers and producers of the show are pretty obnoxious whenever they talk about it, but for FWIW the second season was a big improvement over the first, and the third season hasn't come out yet for us to judge it.
@renee87462 жыл бұрын
@@neko_samurai The second season maybe better in production values like costumes and such but in terms of writing it is so bad that many gave up. It was criticised heavily online and not nearly as popular as the first one. Henry himself said he wished the show would be true to the witcher books.

Also the fact the only thing he praised about the Witcher 3rd season is action is also telling a lot between the lines. It sounds like - the world's and story adaptation is insulting the Sapkowski's work, but at least you can enjoy the fights. The petitions to hire him back and fire the writers instead has already over 1/4 million signatures. It may not change much, and the showrunner will probably not care - but Netflix might look at it's cracking reputation - thought I have no illusions about them either.

I feel that from 45:22 Henry might be having the Witcher in mind. He did the right thing quitting the Witcher. The showrunner turned out to be a very incompetent person, making one mistake after another, pushing her own agenda. I don't really understand how comes that Netflix made her a person in charge since she clearly had said she is even not into the fantasy genre? And the writers - shame on you. The only good thing is that Henry's Witcher won hearts of many new fans.

45:20 he was talking about Witcher for sure and you can tell how it personally affected him by the tone of his voice and how serious he was saying that. It's clear that working with the witcher crew any further went against his values as an actor and as a fan of the Witcher franchise.

I was born 1978 and grew up with Christopher Reeve as Superman. I enjoyed the movies. Also I loved the Comics… mostly the „Man of Steel - Period“ written by John Byrne. I always thought, that something particular is missing in Reeve‘s Portrait of Superman… Henry Cavill showed me many years later, how Superman should be. No Hate to all the other Actors who played Superman in the past, but that exactly was the missing thing. Henry Cavill is not „playing“ Superman. He IS Superman.

Honestly sucks that he won't play Geralt anymore, it will honestly not be the same without him. He had such a personal take on Geralt, and it felt like he really enjoyed the role. I won't say that Liam will do a bad job, but if he doesn't bring the same amount of dedication to the role I'll be kinda sad :/

I remember when I was severely sick and recovering from a fatal disease back in 2013. I used to watch Man of Steel on a daily basis, at least once a day to keep my spirit up. I used to look at Cavil as Superman and think, "Man, I wish I was as strong as him. No disease would affect me." I was fourteen years old back then. A teenager. Time flies.

So sad to watch this knowing now that Henry won't be returning as Superman. He was so thrilled and they are making a huge mistake in doing that to him. It was plain rotten !! He is the ONLY one that should play Superman !!!

@@I-speak-U-shut-it No, he is about 18 or 16 in the film (he has a 16th birthday in the movie). He's a supporting minor cast member. It was his first role. Its a good costume drama film regardless.

Brilliant interview. I'm so happy Henry gets another chance to don the red cape. All I hope for is that the next is a solo movie with an auteur director who can bring forth the essence of the wholesome character, alongside the challenges he still faces today as an alien immigrant.❤

A Solo movie? He's playing Napoleon again in a Man from UNCLE sequel? Haha. Seriously, just imagine if he gets to be the new James Bond. The poor fella won't have enough hours in the day to do all that! 😂
@ameliacraiig41932 жыл бұрын
@@michaelrwilson007 Lol. I'm not gonna lie, I wouldn't be mad at that. I loved Daniel; he's *MY* Bond, but now a switch back to the dark-haired, suave 007 would keep me interested. (Either him or Regé-Jean Page). Henry's more than capable of it since Man From UNCLE seemed like a dress rehearsal for the role.😄
@michaelrwilson0072 жыл бұрын
@@ameliacraiig4193 it must be an age thing. Ive not bothered going to the cinema to see a Bond film since Die Another Day. When Bond was good old entertaining, escapist fun. Roger Moore is my Bond, with Pierce Brosnan a close second. The one thing we do not need is another Craig wannabe. It has to have the fun element put back in. Casino Royale was enjoyable enough, but I don't consider him Bond. And a recent list I saw that still had the likes of Idris Elba and Tom Hardy was just embarrassing. Out of the list of successful candidates, Henry Cavill and Aidan Turner are my choices. Yes, I wouldn't mind seeing Henry back as Solo but I doubt Armie Hammer would be back. But Henry has more than enough on his plate at the moment. I'm looking forward to MoS2 and the forthcoming Superman (with Shazam maybe?) versus Black Adam.

Henry Cavill is humble, gracious, and just giving. It's great to see him back as Superman. I think Man of Steel definitely had that Mark Waid's Superman: Birthright vibe to it which was a nice different take to the character.
