Nicely done, Gilles! I think this is one of the late Henry Mancini's greatest themes, and you did a seamless job marrying the Opening and Closing titles... your version should've been included on the expanded albums of the score. (Great work on the accompanying 16:9 graphic too! Clean and sharp.) The best version of the Main Theme. Like others, I could see this distinctive music gracing some period fantasy film/game like DRAGON'S DOGMA or DRAGON AND DUNGEONS: HONOR AMONG THIEVES... imagine fighting a dragon to this marvellous music! Fantasy and adventure. More whimsical. Not so much bizarre Sci-Fi Horror. I feel this music was miscast for the movie it was written for... it's slightly at odds with the weird style of the film... Michael Kamen's more atonal, atmospheric music for the cut version of the film is a better fit, IMO. BUT... Mancini's music, like all great scores, transcends the movie it was written for. Many thanks! I love this music more than the movie it was written for.

I love this movie - it was my introduction to the late, great Tobe Hooper's work, grew up watching it from VHS to DVD to Blu-ray! And this is Mancini's best work, rivaling his contributions to Blake Edwards - I played the Varese Sarabande CD to death in my teens, blasting it through my headphones!

I recall the theme theatrically played just a tick faster, but this performance both stirs and swaggers. Mancini could do that.

Since Lifeforce predates Baldur's Gate by 13 or so years, we'll just say the assassin battle music is a Lifeforce homage.

This track has been copied many times without any apparent consequences, it's in Baldur's Gate, shows up in the NFL, and in a lot of commercials in the 90's. It makes me wonder if the melody actually predates Henry Mancini and he got it from somewhere else.

Check out Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Body Bags and Spontaneous Combustion... Tobe Hoooper still had a directing career after Lifeforce.
