I've long maintained that if any detective today who was worthy of his badge could travel back in time to 1863-1864 and could interrogate the "heroic" vigilantes separately, he could find enough holes in their testimonies to cast far more than a reasonable doubt on Plummer's guilt.

He was as crooked as pat garret in his own way. Back then it was easy to change names and criminals become cops.

What proof is there that TJD and his take on the situation was wrong? He lived there. Worked there. And was reporting on the time. I've read the vigilantes of Montana. And done some crude investigation. Can you point me to some sources?
