Any total haters of Henry rifles have probably never actually owned one. I have 5 Henrys...45-70. 44 mag, 22LR, 357, and a Henry Pump action 22 Mag....All beautiful, All work flawlessly, And If I Ever Have A Problem, Henry has the Best Warranty And the Best Customer Service! Rock On !

I second your opinion. I have 5 Henrys as well, .17 HMR, 22 LR, 22 WMR, .327 Mag, .41 Mag. I really like lever guns and I don’t think any mass produced lever action rifle is smoother. My favorite is the .327 Mag it’s like dynamite-lot of power in a small package. It can shoot the .32 H&R Mag and a couple other smaller .32 pistol loads reliably. Unfortunately reasonable costing ammo dried up with C*V#D and still hasn’t come back.

I have two. One works pretty well, and the other is a nightmare. Every brand and type of ammo, and cleaning everything makes no difference. Henry agreed to send it in to be fixed and then completely ghosted me when it was time to send me the return information. Maybe it was a trash employee I was dealing with, but it just went back on the wall for a “deal with it later” day.

I do NOT need another 22lr. I have 3 Henry's and one is a 22 lr and I giggle like a child when I fire it. But the pump action, strike me dead. Grandma took me to the fair when I was, maybe 10. There was a 22short gallery and spent all day there. My memory is it was a Winchester, but I could be wrong, Gosh darn it, I don't need another 22, but this is making me frisky. lol. Nearly every gun owner I’ve ever met has owned a Henry lever action 22 and had no problems with it. When I bought mine the gun store sold 3 of them as I was waiting for my background check to come back. I think they’re fine lol.

Seems like the cheaper it is, the dirtier it is. There's other factors involved as well like the primer ratio used, external casing lube and the soft lead used that tends to "flake off". A prime example is the picture I took down the bore, alot of flakes in it. Action type plays a part in how dirty the weapon will get also. Blowback firearms will be dirtier than a closed breach action like a bolt, pump, single or lever action weapon. Barrel length is another factor. I had some Russian 7.62 x 39 ammo that was just as bad as this. Direct impingement systems are really bad versus piston driven. With DI's, the gun is basically pooping in it's own mouth. That's why AK's doesn't need the TLC like an AR platform does. I don't always wear safety glasses like I should, but when I shoot some of my semi auto 22's, I try to always wear them because of the debri blowing out of the breech right in to my face and eyes. I don't know exactly what it is, whether it's unburned powder, hot lead particles or what, but it's not a pleasant feeling lol. I shoot alot of PMC ammo in different calibers and it's pretty bad as well. I have some silicone coated match grade 22 ammo that I run occasionally. The jury is still out on that stuff. It's accurate but a pain to load in a magazine because it's slick as snot. Thanks buddy!

Ive had a Henry pump 22 with the round barrel and Ive had many feed problems with it. I probably should have sent it back to the factory being the original owner. Ive lubed it and tried a variety of types including shorts just to assess the issue. I guess one day Ill have a gunsmith take a look at it. In my opinion the feed ramp is too steep and the bullet then has to make a severe turn after ramping upwards.

Nothing wrong with a zinc alloy, just don't soak it in salt water! The Ruger 10/22 has an alluminium reciever and people rage about them.

Glocks (and many others) are made of plastic and it works fine. Zmac for a 22 receiver is also fine. Some parts need to be steel and some don’t.

I would suggest shooting it dirty until it fails and then clean it, no reason to clean a gun like that if your not shooting corrosive ammo and it still runs. Unless you just like cleaning guns.

Dude, it has a cast metal receiver with a plate on either side covering it up! ANY milled steel forging will be structurally stronger than a casting. BTW, I don't hate on all cast metal receivers. I have cast ZAMAC receiver Phoenix Arms HP-22 and it is actually a well made pistol. Unlike Henry and Rossi, they don't try to hide this fact. Plus, it's a $175.00 pistol-John in Texas

I just got one of those in .22 magnum. The pump action seems to be abrupt and loud. The wood actually hits the front of the receiver. How well will it break in, and is this all normal? Reason I ask, is out in the woods when I rack this gun, I'm afraid of scaring off my game. Other than that, I like the rifle. It's my 2nd Henry.

I've never heard a pump action that was quiet to be honest. It will get better as it gets worked but will still be loud. If it were me, I would hunt with one in the chamber with the hammer safety engaged. That way you can just pull the hammer back and only have one click to try and mute, but that's just me. Congrats on your 2nd Henry! I need a .22 mag Henry in my life!

I think the Henry pump rifle will be my next purchase although I'll be looking in the 20 odd pawn shops around where I live for one. The only gun store that carries Henry's all the time in stock wants $539 for a new one.

I tried to shoot it at least once a day, every day. Some days I would run only a tube full (15 rds) and other days I might shoot only once or twice. If the stars all lined up, I would shoot it maybe 50 - 60 times, just depends. But let me be clear. This isn't like my Charger that can dump 25 rounds in 3 seconds and then have 10 more mags at the ready. This is loaded one round at a time in the tube which gets monotonous when you're trying to conduct a test such as this. Hence why it took a long time to shoot that much. Plus, it wasn't a priority to get this project done in a certain amount of time. But I hear you loud and clear and will try to do better lol. Thanks Terry!

Same rifle. Trying to get new people into shooting with it and have constant failures. If I don’t slam the pump forward there’s a good 50/50 chance it won’t fire. Fully closed. From outside everything is flush. If I slam it forward every round it fires 100% of the time. It was bought new by my brother who only put about 20 rounds through it before trading it to me for some welding work. Maybe I’ll clean the hell out of it and see if something is sticking. Seems a firing pin issue.

Same issues with mine. Kinda wanna get different inputs from everyone else before i reach out to henry. Some bullets jam the carrier dont seem to want to bring the bullet all the way up for some reason

@@Busted_Gs3 I went back and forth with Henry, who agreed to send me all the return info to get it fixed, and then never did. Good communication all the way up to actually sending it back, and then ghosted me. Life got busy and I never started the procedure over again. Because I shouldn’t have had to.

I honestly can't remember but I believe it improved after cleaning. I changed the sights and still shoot it almost every day.
