This has to be one of the few interviews where Mike is being himself and not trolling the interviewer. Above all, you have to admire the man’s passion for what he does (it really comes across) and his steadfast non conformity. It’s rarer than you think.

When Classical writers composed they would come and slam a phone book down on the table and tell like 60 people to come get their part. Bach may have been a genius. Possibly. I agree though and say this all the time. Mike Shanahan was a great football coach. Genius? Jesus Christ. Has the genius bar really been lowered that much? Do we have to dig a hole to clear the genius bar now? Rant complete.

I remember seeing Tomahawk open for Tool in 2001 and they got boo'd. I was fascinated because I didn't know it was Mike Patton. Kinda like when I first saw A Perfect Circle open for NIN before Mer de Noms dropped, I didn't know it was Maynard's side work(till I heard the voice). People are so tunnel vision with bands. So many diamonds in the rough out there. Mike is sick! New Mr. Bungle is incredible btw!!

Two complete legends. Wonderful interview. If only we could've had the music to go along with it. Should've posted it complete. Who gives af about the copywrite strike?! Take the cut. It's what they would've done.

Love both of these guys, especially Patton who's music has influenced me over the years in ways i still haven't figured out. But hank needs to let the guests talks sometimes, but you can tell he's very excited and has a lot of respect for Patton, btw Mr. Bungle best band ever!!!

When it came out in ‘05, I bought Fantomas’s “Suspended Animation” from Best Buy. This world used to be that way. And Henry totally drops the ball and doesn’t ask Mike about his version of “Jackie” that he did with Secret Chiefs 3!

Actually, there is another version of this show with the music intact, on KZbin . So what I said before is either complete bullshit OR the station got around it OR some maverick just went ahead and uploaded the complete show. Hope this helps fine sir.

This 'interview' is simply two mate's having a catch up. It's brilliant. They genuinely sound enthused. And interested in each other. And as much as I love Patton, his younger self did come across as a bit of an arrogant dick. But he actually sounds sincere here. Probably because he's mate's with Rollins.

My old dad has always been a fairly respected Banjo player (bluegrass) his band does a bunch of touring and I often asked "Why dont you guys go professional", and he said "Because nobody likes their day job. if music was my day job I'd start to hate it". Turns out Mike Patton worked out a solution to that problem, Have your money band as your day job and go nuts on the side projects until your side projects finally get the traction to let you take a holiday and make the money in the process, and do that enough, the old money band might even be fun to go back and do an album with occasionally. Perfect.
