I like this kid, and I don't think he was being mean, at all (just a bit naive) however asking Henry if the band was selling out was a bad question and likely to ruffle more than a few feathers. Either though it was a question that was probably doing the rounds in hardcore circles at the time. Especially if you consider that Black Flag never made any money at all, despite their constant, and grueling fly by the seat of your pants, tours in front of the craziest most brutal audience in music. So you get beat up , abused, spat on by some fans, harassed by the police, are borderline broke, all the time, and then some people accuse you of selling out. That question would really feel like a low blow in that context.

@@squareinsquare2078 I don’t think Henry has to bully a kid to look cool for anyone my guy. He’s a cool guy all on his own. This kid was incredibly annoying and I don’t blame Henry for reacting the way he did.

He now regrets this. Keep in mind this is 1985! He indirectly apologized to this kid in the last dozen years.

Not trying to take Henry's side, but that seems to be his...I guess...kernel of truth

I hate how people are sticking up for the kid. He’s the 80s equivalent of a troll or an instigating Karen. Everything he says is trying to get a rise out of Henry or trying to piss him off and Henry sees that shit immediately which is why he’s so abrasive. Idk maybe I’m biased or maybe I’m the asshole but that’s how I saw it the first time I watched this. Edit: first time watching this in a few years and this kid just screams that “my daddy’s rich so you can’t touch me” confidence. Like he’s holding his own, not because he thinks he’s a badass but like he’s never had to stress money, couch surf or wonder where the hell you’re gonna sleep that night, go hungry, have to choose whether to spend your last few bucks on gas to get to work or if you wanna gamble on the tank and actually eat that day, etc. and Rollins smells that shit lol that’s all they lived on tour.
