Well said, Henry. The problem is that there is no accountability. Do folks really believe that these public servants really consider themselves as such? They don't. They believe that they are above everyone, and there are laws to attest to that.

"Colin powell owes me an apology because he lied to my face. He looked right into the camera and lied" YES! Now whether he knew he was lying, or if he was "mis-informed" does not change the fact that he lied to every single American, and everyone else around the world that bothered to listen to him. 'Oh, you mean the one under the rule of a tyrannical dictator' Yeah, that one. I dont dispute Saddamn being a tyrant. I do find questionable going after him, when we're going after the perps of 9/11, which his regime had nothing to do with. 'Just because no WMDs were found at the time, doesn't mean we weren't in the right for going there.' When WMDs were the case presented for doing so, yeah it patently means we weren't in the right.

“If some fanatic bishop, king or priest somehow justified death for their greedy desires to gain fortune or godhood or whatever they wanted, then it's their problems.” Actually, it’s the problem of the people who die as a result of it. The individual who gains fortune or godhood from interpreting a certain scripture a certain way is certainly not having a problem.

I like Rollins a lot. And I agree with much of what he says about the media. One thing I disagree on is that non-transparency in the news media is something new. Or at least that's the impression I think he is giving here. The news media has never been transparent and will never be. Apart from a few publications (Private Eye in the UK for example), every news channel or publication filters the information that they have to serve their own agenda - this is Media Studies 101, which we all should know. The difference that 'social media' has made--is making--in the news media sphere is that we are getting raw 'news', unfiltered. This is problematic because it highlights the instability and chaotic nature of the world in which we live - it has always been like this. Now we get to see the chaos of the world unedited, unfiltered, directly to our devices and that's scary. It also makes it more difficult, if not impossible, for us to make sense of what is going on in the world. And when truth-seeking journalist try to get to the truth, often an ugly truth for governments, they are portrayed as trying to undermine those governments and their foreign policy agendas. So raw news is demonised as somehow unpatriotic or even terrorist in its motives, as Trump likes to do -- ‘fake’ news has become a catch-all for unpalatable or embarrassing information, but can equally be applied to the propaganda disseminated from government media and comms departments. Where does that leave us? In a kind of news ‘non-space’ -- a soup of truth/fiction that nobody likes. The solution? Who knows. One thing is clear: social media just thickens the soup. My advice is to not use Twitter or FB or any of the online surveillance mechanisms. And that’s what they are, forms of surveillance, whether it’s Zuckerberg-style fascists, governments, serious news journalists or you. We’re all watching each other. Orwell said: the perfect police state requires no police. If we are not careful we will all be ‘informing’ on each other -- government and individual: Log off, tune out and look up.

It's all about interpretation. Some interpret the best, others choose the worst parts just so they can validate their hate and scorn as being rightfully placed. That's the most simplistic form of it, it's like telling a child not to eat sweets or worms are going to start growing inside. But it's also a protection mechanism for the people, telling all the people that don't want to understand God that they will suffer if they do bad things to others, if love can't save them, maybe fear will.

@TheImmortuary12 жыл бұрын
Michio Kaku is a scientific spokesman at best, regurgitating the hard work and research of others. However he is an educator, so you cannot begrudge him for him, like Neil Degrasse Tyson, and educating the masses (no pun) is worthwhile. I will agree however that you are absolutely correct when you say nobody knows what it is. Scientists are trying to explain with analogies of drag, but are failing miserably at explaining the finer details, because they themselves, dont know yet.

I believe he points Colin Powell out because he is a man of integrity and of higher morals and values than was seen throughout that administration - or for many administrations. Cheney-Rumsfeld did not do him any favors putting him in such a position and I remember thinking to myself 'what is he going to do? I couldn't see him falling in line' but I remember distinctly & thought it was his oath to country to back up the administration's claims on Iraq WMDs & Al Queda ties. His pain was evident
@vidfreak5612 жыл бұрын
"traded truth for access". Yes. This is how the world works. You trade what you have for what you need. A profitable network would rarely commit suicide in order to tell people the "truth". And this doesn't make them "cowards" either. You would do this yourself if it benefited you more. Like you wouldn't just give a piece of your liver to someone unless you got something out of it. Same goes with charity. NO one just gives unconditionally. Everything we do is based on incentives.

OMG this guy hits the nail right on the head! Not too long ago I was pretty young naive and idealistic.. always going to be naive at least to some degree but towards the last half of the Bush administration I gave them so much benefit of the doubt, because he was my president and "we're the good guys".. so I would look the other way under the guise that whatever they were doing behind the curtains was for the greater good. It is utterly defeating to pull that curtain back & find petty corruption

Just remember that this isn't a partisan issue. From Ron Reagan to the current President there are people out there doing horrible things for "the greater good". I don't care who becomes President they become disciples of Machiavelli eventually and it's freaking scary stuff. Iraq was a hard thing for me because I joined the Army as Country loving American but by the time I went to Iraq my perception changed to that of a humanity loving American. It was a really tough time.
