At 1:09, he says the political is interfering with the psychological & philosophical realms, but I really think the political is a direct result of the psychological & philosophical realms. I love how he emphasizes the importance of the individual finding meaning. I do feel like people's lack of meaning in life makes it easy for them to be captured by an ideology & lose the ability to see reason or facts, thereby skewing their perspective. Thank you for posting this video.
@BadassRaidenКүн бұрын
I hope you realize everything he says is his own propaganda. He only says it's important for the individual to find meaning and holds individuality in high regard. However, when no one is watching, when it's just him wanting to say what he really feels, he quite literally says it doesn't matter what you want, your desires, you should essentially forgo your individuality and become a vacant devotee to the church. I cannot stress this enough - he literally said this.
@samwisegamdschie501821 сағат бұрын
@@BadassRaiden When you improve yourself so that you can see how to help others how to improve themselves you start walking a path of selfishlessness. When you want to change the world you start with yourself, then your family, then your village, then your nation, then the world. You know who wrote down this wisdom already 5000 years ago? The chinese. He is just putting that into light, knowingly or not. You will find these lines in the Qi-Gong btw. For that matter you walking down that path you will forgo your individuality to some degree and become a devotee to the community. And it is a good thing, not a bad thing. Nothing scary about it at all.
@lanagordon566916 сағат бұрын
@@BadassRaidenif he did say that: 1. Someone was obviously listening. That’s how you found out. lol 2. If you’ve studied psychological theories of spiritual development, then you know that the final end-of-life stage is unity with the transcendent. In Buddhism this is Nirvana. In psychology it’s the stage that comes AFTER Maslow’s idea of self actualization. After you’ve developed your individuality as a young adult, contributed to the creation and wellbeing of future generations in middle adulthood, rediscovered your individuality and spirituality in late adulthood many, many people seek unity with the divine before death. That unity requires a surrendering your individuality, at least temporarily, and if you’d ever been on a psychedelic trip you’d already get the concept. In other words, read more about ancient spiritual traditions and the modern study of spiritual development in order to understand what he is talking about. Because he’s certainly never encouraged any one to give up their individuality to become “a vacant devotee of the church.” Nobody does. Not even Jesus.

@@samwisegamdschie5018 nothing you said is relevant to Jordan Peterson's worldview and ideology so I'd don't know what you are trying to do.
@BadassRaiden15 сағат бұрын
@@lanagordon5669 Okay. All of that is irrelevant nonsense. First, when I said by himself talking to no one I meant physically by himself with no one else in the room. When he makes his videos where he doesn't have anyone else in the room and he can talk to us *as if* he was talking to himself, then the truth of what he thinks comes out. Second, all of what you are talking about is nonsense. You are trying to justify someone's hypocrisy. Jordan Peterson isn't a philosopher in any real sense, nor does he actually care about real philosophy from a historical standpoint. He only uses philosophy very basically, and to justify his own worldview. This is an individual who for his whole career, touted the importance of individuality and not sacrificing that individuality to become a mindless husk for the collective. This has quite literally been his justification against collectivism, socialism, communism, as well as factually incorrectly attributing millions of death specifically to communism, when objectively communism itself didn't cause them. However, when it comes to the church, he is more than willing to act like a Christian fundamentalist despite the fact that most public intellectuals who are atheist that have spoken to Peterson a considerable amount agree that his supposed Christian beliefs seem like a front, an ideology he has co-opted because it helps further his own ideology. He is totally against the collective and all for the individual *except* when it comes to the church. This isn't about *spirituality* this is about religion, and the two are very different things. I am all for spirituality and people being personally spiritual, but religion is an organization with motives and agendas, and this is about the Christian religion. This also isn't about end of life unity with the transcendent nor middle adulthood. His main audience, as with the rest of the daily wire shrill which he basically is regardless of whether or not he works there - are YOUNG men, in their teens and 20s, not men in their middle adulthood. He is telling these men that what they want doesn't matter, that if their values don't align with that of the church it doesn't matter, and they should forget about what they personally want and forget about the fact that their values don't align with the church, which is literally giving up your individuality, and that they should join the church because a) that's traditionally what men did, and these fundamentalists are all about tradition even if they are harmful or result in societal regression, and b) they should join the church because and I quote "they have nothing better to do" meaning there is nothing better to do with their lives than forget their personal wants and forget that their values don't align with the church, and just join the church. That is hypocracy and Christian fundamentalism at its finest. The fact that you are trying to justify that using very loose pseudo philosophy as if Peterson actually structures his worldview in that way, is sad. I'm not making this up, and I'm not exaggerating. He literally said, verbatim, I quote "who cares what you want?" speaking to young men who pose the question of what if they don't *want* to join the church, reinforcing that sentiment and the sentiment that they should just give up their individuality by then asking "what does it matter what you want?" He then proposes he is asked by young men we'll "what if my values don't align with the church?" to which he promptly asks "Who cares?" and then, again, reinforcing the idea that he sees them only useful as tools for the church says the following, "you've got nothing better to do [than join the church]." To recap: I'm not making this up or exaggerating. He literally said these things. The video is on his own channel ffs. He's either sitting in a chair or on a couch, no one else in the room, just talking to the camera. This isn't about spirituality. He could care less about Buddhism, and only invokes topics like Buddhism when it serves the narrative structure of his own worldview. It is specifically about the Christian church. It also isn't about middle adulthood, as he is talking to *young* men looking for where to define their place in the world, and he says they should join the church because they have nothing better to do. Again I cannot stress this enough, he LITERALLY said this. I don't need to read more about ancient spiritual traditions. I guarantee I know more about Buddhism than you do, and by the way - unity with the transcendent is NOT what Nirvana is. Regardless, ancient spiritual traditions are not what he is talking about. I also don't need to read up on the modern study of spiritual development, because again, I probably know more than you do. Modern sprirital development, ancient polytheistic spiritualites, these are already areas of interest for me and have been for nearly two decades now, which is how I know spiritual development and ancient spiritual traditions are not what he is talking about in the slightest. So yes, he certainly has, absolutely, encouraged young men to shed their individuality and devote themselves to the Christian church specifically because what they want doesn't matter and they have nothing better to do.

JP’s story is exceptional and he may be moved by the Spirit. Problem is the Spirit of the Age is not so kind to the messenger. In my opinion, Jordan should pursue a career in politics. Now that he is introduced himself to the world. The dangerous is that he is already at such a high profile that I fear he is in danger of attracting sick people who would harm him. I do not want to see Jordan get shot or harmed in anyway, moving his career into government may help protect him and shelter him from these potential dangers, but it will change Jordan yet again. But I don’t think it’s wise for Jordan to try to keep doing what he’s doing for much longer. He puts himself out there and is too exposed to the public. His Openness is beautiful yet dangerous. He needs to remember where he came from his socialist background and his wife he should focus on his faith and church life as well. I don’t like him being so public. Felt balanced, well done. I've always felt this man was very well intentioned at the outset, and have agreed with a great deal of what he has written. He set impossible expectations for himself, and ended up being held to an impossible standard. People expect him to be right about everything, to be a voice for a generation, or half a culture, in a sense. He pointed out flaws we all needed to see/re-see and was scrutinized beyond belief. So much of what he has written/said has been conflated, to see him being with couched with the alt-right, Tate etc. is so frustrating for any rational thinker/observer. That he is not. He fought an impossible battle, is a human being, flawed. He did far better than 99/9% of the population could have under extraordinary pressure and the brightest spotlight. In the final analysis his for good ledger will dwarf his for bad. He is also a clear example of how media warps perception, skewing it in favour of whichever bias you hold. I do like what that chap said about helping people find personal freedom being the antidote to extremism.

When the world grows cold and darkness comes forth to devour the light, fear spreads like a contagion and at the darkest moment when malevolent forces appear to have defeated the forces o light and all hope is lost; At that moment one will appear to take a stand, one who will rekindle the flame of light to stand against the encroaching darkness, and at great personal cost he will hold his ground and fan the flames of hope against this contagion, the light shines forth and pushes back the shroud of darkness revealing for all to see the malevolent intent lurking inside.

@Alma_Delta he was vilified by the media and spent a couple of years under character attack, sentenced to be re-educated by the judiciary of the very country whose freedom of speech he was trying to defend. As usual pessimist like you only see $$$$ in your eyes, not the emotional struggle or stress going through that would have caused. To be quite frank, he DESERVES the money and any fame he has accrued, because he stood fast where no one else would, because of his conviction and his understanding of the cost to human life the road of censoring or forcing people by law to speak a certain way. The lessons learned in the fires wrought by last centuries ideological struggles seem to have been forgotten by the younger weak snowflake narcissists of todays age, who have been indoctrinated on a steady diet of Liberal Marxist propaganda pushed onto them by a compromised intellectual intelligencia, more concerned with their own self importance than the betterment of civilization

Peterson wasn't throwing a "tantrum". - Get a dictionary or stop using exaggerated language. 2. The mental gymnastics these people go through to support their beliefs is Olympic level! To pretend this isn't a free speech issue whilst simultaneously claiming to be against fascist/authoritarianism is nuts! 3. i don't like Jordan, but I respect some of the things he's done/ is doing. Why can't there be a continued discussion with the 'radical leftists' and 'far rightists'... like... where's the understanding here? We're being consumed by banks and everyone's arguing over which seat they're in on the titanic? lol? owell... guess i'm alone with this view haha ENJOY YOURSELVES FOLKS. and thanks for the upload... (i bet this'll be BANISHED soon enough 😂)
@mrknarf44382 күн бұрын
He is nowhere near a far rightist, his ideas would have been considered even leftist just three or four decades ago... But I agree more discourse, more listening is what we need, understanding both sides, that we all have our concerns and both sides have their fair points. I think the silent majority does that, they stand somewhat in the middle, but it's always the more extreme figures they point the camera at.
@bitesizeforaging69832 күн бұрын
The left was completely derailed in it's effectiveness by it's focus on identity politics. Identity politics is the low hanging fruit of political activism. It's easier to trigger people's emotions, whip up a furore, and earn yourself some kudos as a freedom fighter whilst also maybe getting the 'scalp' of bringing down someone else's career. The Occupy movement of the 2010 era was taking on the banks. But starting in 2010 the amount of content in the newspapers purporting to race and gender rocketed, and has been high ever since. I have to wonder if it was coordinated. Whether it was deliberate or not, the younger generations have, as you say, been baited away from challenging the growing oligarchic structures in the West, by being taught that the biggest threats to them are the systemic biases against people based on elements of their identity.

@Pacdoc-Oz8 сағат бұрын
it takes two to tango! The people who stand at the polar ends of the political spectrum are often unreachable for dialogue. Jordan observed young, impressionable males being as vulnerable to hurt and destruction and rejection and despair as any other person of any age and both sexes. In our lifetime, this was getting extreme - my sons experienced it in their most vulnerable years - boy behaviour = bad behaviour - and I would not have it and neither will any loving father.

@Roscapeaux2 күн бұрын
If you´re in danger of vomiting over your keyboard you´re most likely suffering from some type of emotional self control issue or you´re guilt tripping. And it seems clear to me that you´re intentionally using your authority and power to utilize the laws and rules of a system to your advantage. Peterson´s argument is not about free speech and getting to say what you want when you want to say it. It´s about legislation which forces you to think, speak and behave in a required manner. The only reason why Peet is upset about is because he´s on the side of the current legislation and thus uses it to defend his arguments. If the tables were turned it would be Peterson who could easily use the legislation to his advantage. The difference here is that Peterson is at least willing to have an open philosophical discussion about an issue. Most people are not willing to do that. They´re just interested in how the system serves their interests.
@Alma_Delta2 күн бұрын
No he s not though , he never responds with any real argument , he diverts the conversation to a story that is almost unrelated . He uses long series of words that sound academic in a very assertive tone to literally avoid answering questions properly . His strategy could be taken out of a manual with the title : how to win an argument like a sociopath . Theres no truth in his fire dear ,
@RoscapeauxКүн бұрын
@@Alma_Delta No, I think you´re mistaken. The conversation itself has nothing to do with diversion tactics. It´s not about tactics at all. If it were about tactics it would be about winning and I think that this is about perspectives and trying to fit those perspectives together. That´s how I view this at least. I´m not emotional about this topic. I honestly and sincerely don´t care about the result but I care about the analysis. In order to dissert the scenario you need to understand what are the different perspectives, how they work and what are the dynamics. This view has more to do about analysing those things rather than getting emotional about one perspective due to personal biases. It would be much more efficient and useful to not make this into a theatre or play, but it seems that eventually things do play out in various ways. And that has to do with human emotions and how they work. There are many models and theories which can explain those things. Peterson seems to think about human behaviour from the perspective of stories and mythologies and he does involve this with Jungian mythologies but also modern mythologies. Peterson seems like an expert in how those mythologies work. He tends to be popular as a type of moral messiah. I´m not interested about that at all except in terms of dynamics. You see Peterson is all about the position of moral integrity, which is why he can´t yield. And in this film Peet is clearly the antagonist who is more about human rights and equality. That´s how this play is set out from Peterson´s perspective and that´s about the view of a moral threat. In your opinion what does Peets perspective of the trans perspective represent and how would you describe it?

1:07:46 The trapezius muscles are a pair of flat, triangular muscles that run from the upper back of the neck down to the lower thoracic vertebrae. They help stabilize the scapula and move the neck. Explanation The trapezius muscles are the most superficial back muscles. They originate from the skull and spinal column. The trapezius muscles attach to the scapula, clavicle, and external occipital protuberance. The trapezius muscles have upper, middle, and lower fibers. The upper fibers elevate and rotate the scapula, and extend the neck. The middle fibers retract the scapula. The lower fibers depress the scapula and rotate it upward. The trapezius muscles can be affected by whiplash injuries.
