Henry's Lake Idaho Fishing

I went up to Henry's for the opening week and was not disappointed! I saw Elk, Deer, Moose, and most importantly, some BIG fish! I caught 2 PB's in one day, and will definitely be going back this season! Henry's Lake is only open from Memorial Day weekend through January 1st and is regulated quite well, making it one of the best fisheries in Idaho and the nation. Yeah I would do what I doing the video. It worked out great. I know people also have luck using streamers; I'm a fairly new fly fisherman but I bet some wooly buggers would slay it.

Subscribed. I am from poci, and didn’t know you could just float tube that big lake. Where is a good place to launch? Normally I stick to Henry’s and warm.

A lot of guys use float tubes here actually. They work great! The boat ramp near the state park is a good spot to launch.

I have only fished it from the float tube, but I have a lot of friends who mostly bank fish. I know you want to fish deeper during the day and closer to shore at dawn and dusk. I would say try to get something that dives deep or is heavy enough to sink a fair bit to get to where the fish are.

I use a Berkley lightning rod (light weight) and a Pflueger president reel. I use the 3500 series but wanted the 3000 (mine is a little bulky but I guess its nice knowing the reel can handle big tanks). Hope that helps!

I was using a 1/4oz gold and silver spoon. The lake can be on fire and most flies or spinners will be productive.
