Bawahaha. I had to laugh at, as Mark throws his rod, "In small streams it does NOT get any better than This!" I agree whole heartedly. What a fantastic cutthroat! Well done sir.

Thank you for sharing this great footage. I grew up in the Hudson Valley fishing Wappingers Creek and other tributaries of the upper Hudson. Every April 1st, two buddies of mine, Pat and Steve, would skip school and fish for trout using Zebco reels, nightcrawlers, rooster tail spinners, salt minnows under bobbers (indicators), anything just to catch fish. We laughed hard, Pink Floyd's The Wall played on the way, and we each hoped for first-trout bragging rights. The memories of catching native browns with friends are pleasantly permanent. We didn't have flyrods, but the footage of the streams and your willingness to adapt to the conditions in every video is inspiring. Thanks again, I'll be watching.

Mark should do a whole series where he just fishes with iconic people from other sports like Al.

Thanks Mark for a great overview of the fishing opportunities in Island Park. My wife and I have been coming to Henry’s lake for many years to stay for a month fishing the lake with our boat in June. There are so many more stream areas that are available that were not shown. I have used Mike at Drift Lodge for my advice for many years.

Looks really cool. I'd personally use small tippet like 5x or 6x depending on the speed of the river.

If that decent rainbow you caught was on the madison in or out of the park you can only use 2 flies you cannot have a 3 fly set up like you said you were using

Excellent watching this DIY! Question- as you are euro nymphing I saw you pack was getting wet- do you use all waterproof fly boxes to keep everything dry? Just open everything up at the end of the day to dry? Why not fully waterproof bag? (I know expensive) And Fishing Yellowstone- park license and state license? Or just park license?
@newflyfisher
@newflyfisher 2 жыл бұрын
Waterproof fly boxes yes. From Meiho. Everything else gets wet and forces me to clean out the sling pack after every outing. Mark

Just a Park license for fishing in Yellowstone. No state license needed. 3-day license is $40. Make sure to read the regs. They change from place to place within the park. Everything is lead-free and barbless and no felt soles are allowed on boots.

Mark, outstanding video on DIY in Island Park and Henry's Fork. How to accomplish this by visiting the Drift Fly Shop and Lodge. Mike, the owner, can stear anyone in the right direction including Henry's Lake.
