Where do you get his carrots at? Weird question. But I always get the mini ones and I think my kids would like the ridged ones. :)

I highly recommend wholemeal bread with oats if you have type 1 diabetes, it's almost like eating insulin.

Do you have a flat lunch bag for him or do your planet box lunch kits stand on their sides? Have you had any issues if they stand on their side with spilling into other compartments and do the dressing containers leak if on their side? Sorry for all the questions. Love this and all your videos!! :)

LN V We use the planetbox lunch bag too. No issues. We don't put anything liquid that could spill. YES, the containers never have spilled! They work great!

Does he have to eat all the food for the numbers to be accurate? What if he just nibbles on some of the things?

kalikikila Yes, he has to eat all of his food. If he doesn't, he needs juice or other food to make up for the carbs he didn't eat.

What time does Henry start school? I noticed you said he woke up at 8:30. The bus comes at 7:30 for kids here!

Yeah, he actually gets up extremely early but that's when I checked him for breakfast. We have late start schools and start at 9:25. I don't like it.

I'm in my 20's and diagnosed type 1 last November. I have no idea how to count carbs like this or eat this well. I look at the carbs on the label and if it's a high number I just try to eat less of that. I wish I had a mom to help me lol. I hate living alone with type 1. I can't manage it well and plus I'll probably just die when I have my first really low blood sugar. We all gotta go sometime I guess.

it's easy to count carbs, been doing really well for my son in just two months. eating right is important anyway. but Google is a saint, ask it how many carbs in this & that. & make a list of all the things you like or normally eat. get yourself a scale & always look to the list to do the math. are you apart of a diabetic program??

Tina Figueroa im an alcoholic. the other day i woke up and i couldn't move. i had to crawl to fridge and eat an apple. 1 hour later i could move again. its hard being alone with this, but at least i appreciate food now. I'm 6"2 and only 140 pounds :(

I took a lot of Ella and Hannah's candy to coworkers after Easter there was way too much! They got so many Easter baskets from family! If I pack it its the only thing Ella will eat lol! She is such the picky eater and won't eat sandwiches I pack lunchables but she has stopped eating those. We go to the pedi for her 6 year checkup sometime this month I think its next week and she hasn't gained any weight this past year maybe a lb but has grown 3 inches I am a little worried at what they will say. Keep posting the food lunch ideas! I got some ideas from watching this video even though its a diabetic diet.

If you're diabetic why have kids? Poor kid he's suffering, he can't eat like no regular kid can, I can feel his pain when it's Halloween.

It's not the 1950's anymore, people with type 1 diabetes can eat a completely normal diet, you only need to be a bit more careful with carbs. I have type 1 diabetes and i eat exactly the same food as most people. I avoid regular soda and drink moderate amounts of juice and milk, but besides that I have a normal diet. We have several types of slow acting and fast acting insulin, and compact blood sugar measuring devices that give accurate readings in seconds.
