We reviewed this kit on our channel a while back. I have to say it is one of the most thought out kits I've seen. I enjoyed how you separated the gear into categories. With this kit and the survival rifle your golden. Thanks

Do you know what the best part of this video is? It’s that you didn’t just unbox it and set the contents on a table. Looks like you spent some time evaluating and using the kit. Excellent video very well thought out and produced. Bloopers were great too. Thanks for your efforts and sharing your thoughts

I really like to see video's on things that really work , you have so many products that are just for show these days but , this was well thought out . I agree with you on the box , as a cooking container it would be better .

The tin will be not recommended for cooking because of the coating as well as the plastic rollers potentially melting if you cook with it.
@KLEEVAGE9 жыл бұрын
Built my own kit similar to this but I used a french mess kit as the container. I just keep it in a ziploc bag to make it water proof. Also didn't cost me anywhere near the $100 Henry is charging for this kit.

@marycahill5469 жыл бұрын
Good stuff for a small kit. If you want to make your own kit, I use an ordinary women's Kotex pad for abdominal pad, and a small BCB compass. BCB also makes a good firesteel with compass and striker combined. Coghlans sells a large orange garbage bag which can be the bivy. They also sell a good GLASS signal mirror at reasonable price. Victorinox Farmer would be a good knife in a kit this size as it has a saw in it. Dental floss is small and will do for extra cordage and fushing line. Flashlights are very small nowadays -- an olight with extra AAA battery would be good.

Great video again :D I guess you could add some foil to cook on for this. Too bad it looks like the brochure is on paper... The tin and the most of the tools are really cool. BTW do any of bags or the container hold that 1 quart or under 1L of water for the water purification tablets?
@craigbennett479 жыл бұрын
That looks like one of the better ones on the market. What I like about it, is that you can open it and check it out before you head out, add stuff to it, or replace items. I would probably add some zip ties, foil, lighter and candy to it. Unlike the sardine types which once open, you cant reseal.
@daleadmire14517 жыл бұрын
there is a tin called bcb survival, they had the good sense to make the clip rollers aluminum so you can use it for a cooking pot. the plastic rollers on this one takes that off the table.

I'm not generally a fan of pre-made kits, but this one does look pretty good. Unlike most pre-mades all of the contents look to be good quality. For those that still like to make their own, you can get that exact box, (without the Henry logo,) from Amazon for about $20. Just put: Adventurer Aluminum Survival Kit Box into the search bar.

You cracked me up on how you were using the wire saw. They are made to create a bow saw from a limb and also to tie between two trees and you run the wood across the saw. The way you used it, it will heat up and break.

Henry SHOULD link your video to their site. I seen this kit while messing around on their site but the description and limited pics doesn't really do it justice. Nice kit really for someone to add to their existing pack or to start off with, even tho I am small fan of them it beats the smaller altoids kits hands down.

The mfg. recommends NOT using it for cooking because of the possibility the plastic/rubber tube buffers on locking mechanism would melt if exposed to fire as well as the O-ring seal on the lid. My hack to using this kit as a cooking pot was to cut the locking tube buffer length wise along the lock wire clamps and re-sealing it with electrical tape. When I need it for cooking I simply remove the electrical tape from the tubes, then pull off the tubes. I hook a makeshift wire hanger to each side of the locking clamps to set it over the fire. I use foil paper as a lid and the Survival kit lid as a plate. After cooking I reverse the process.

It would be worth it for me to buy the kit for it's incredible contents and then replace the Aluminum container with one of my 2 steel military cooking tins of the same size. I live on the Canadian Prairies; in Winter unless you are fortunate enough to find open water (fat chance when our rivers typically have 18 - 24 inches of ice!) you WILL need to heat packed snow to create drinking water.

I don't know when you filmed the footage, but I notice the abdominal pad expires next month. It's one of the cheapest and easily replaceable objects in there, so not a big deal.
@grouch3147 жыл бұрын
WeeItsNookies it's not guaranteed sterile after the expiry date. I'd rather have an expired and not necessarily sterile pad than none at all but they're so cheap, it's easy to replace

Adding a universal pot holder will turn the container into a cook it. Maybe because it is coated they don't recommend it but the word survival necessitates it. Perhaps they should make it out of titanium. Thanks for the review.

Very nice kit, however for what these and other survival kits cost, you could make up your own with a similar array of items for alot less money. I made up my own mini survival kit from items I already had around the house. Didn't cost me a penny.

This "Kutmaster" tool is interesting to say the least, and what's more, there are apparently knock-offs of those, because I found one of those at a Big Lots for a dollar. Mine doesn't have the tweezers, and so I'm assuming it's a knock-off. Interestingly, it was found when the wife and I were having a little fun and playing "What survival kit could you put together for $20?". Definitely fun.

I think a pack would work better and be easier to transport than a tin, but anything is better than nothing. Also they could have put a stainless or tin cup in there but if you could always use a tin can as an improvised pot, it wont hold much but it will work.

i think the recommendation to not use the tin to cook and boil with is just a disclaimer that's what its really for but for legal purposes they say its not and how come no one ever puts a couple sticks of beef steak and maybe a couple nails in their kit i allays put them in mine i mean a strip of beefsteak isnt much but it can help a little
