Yeah I dunno why Cejudo comes off so salty here. Probably because of his wrestling background and he thinks Alex's wrestling should be exposed. That, and I am sure he sees weaknesses in Pereira's game that he kind of alludes to with how hittable he is down the middle for one thing. I just think Henry is a little off the mark in this criticism because Pereira has shown an ability to compete at the highest levels and he's a big draw with his pedigree and the fact that he could knock anyone in the world out with that left hook. It sucks for other fighters who have maybe paid more dues but let's face it- MW was stale and Pereira is exciting at LHW so pay the man his money and let the UFC sell PPVs cuz the fans are loving it

Firstly, I will say that I 100% agree that the UFC 'fast-tracked' Alex by giving him favorable matchups that line up with his skillset and mostly avoid his deficits. And there is something to be said about not having to run the gamut of fighters to reach the top, because we haven't gotten to see much of how he deals with different styles of fighters. But this is just how things go sometimes. But what I love about Jiri vs Alex is that it isn't the typical juxtaposition that we see where it's 'striker vs grappler', or purely a matter of "power vs technique". We're seeing two guys, who almost exclusively would prefer to strike in that MMA/kickboxing range... But their approaches to striking, movement/footwork, and defense are almost entirely different. And while Jiri is certainly more well-rounded, we all know the 'samurai' in Jiri is going to want to 'clash swords' (so to speak) and test his skills against Alex, who's mostly seen as a specialist/one-trick. This is either good ng to end reasonably quickly, or it's going to be one of the greatest striking matches of all time.

2033, Alex vs Isreal #10! Just kidding. These guys added new life into both divisions. Thankful. Not to mention Alex vs Jones, after jones loses 50 lbs now that francis ducked him lol...

Wtf? Jan was probably the worst or second worst match up for Alex (with ankalaev being the other contender).
@Skibidi4234 Жыл бұрын
Yeah a fighter with some of the best leg kicks and checks who had the potential to outstrike alex just as he did adesanya, who can also grapple well. Alex proved his skills
@GuerillaCatty73 Жыл бұрын
Well, the mastermind of this path to the championship was Jan. He wanted the crack at the title, he got the promise that the winner would get it. Alex is just the right bloke hanging around at the right time. That it was Alex who was chosen as a good opponent... that was Jan as well. Coming up to LHW? Why, hello, I'm the welcoming party for you guys... he approached the UFC and the Pereira camp. You need to be pissy at Jan, at this point.
@draco2xx Жыл бұрын
jan is a coward, deserves that loss
@GuerillaCatty73 Жыл бұрын
@@draco2xx No, he now knew the Pereira legends were true, he was struggling, and he did what you do to win it by decision, which he deserves if Poatan can't finish him. No eye pokes, illegal strikes, and still clever enough to hide a TD from someone ready to put a knee in your face when you attempt them. Some nice strikes of his own and probably insightful enough to realise, Poatan has probably been working on how to knock someone out on his back. And despite everything working against him, he was there at the end, unwobbled. I'm not sure it's brave to hand yourself over on a plate. That sounds more like stupidity to me.

Jiri all day. Causals talking about a striking fight between these two and how kickboxing champ Alex is better. Jiri is a well-rounded fighter that just happens to kill most standing. Meanwhile, Alex is learning the ground game from a guy that already got submitted by Jiri. Even his KO ratio is better than Pereira's. Pereira will also be a smaller guy with no reach advantage unlike in midweight. Jiri was Rizin champ prior to UFC, and beat guys like Nemkov (using cardio as a weapon!). This will be a spectacle, otherwise easy fight for Jiri.

Tough to pick Jiri here. Jiri had one of the worst championship fights in history vs Glover. He was complete shit, for a title fight. Pereira would beat thay guy 9/10 times. But Jiri is a great athlete and has crazy power, so you never know
@apzn1170 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, he didn't fight all of those wrestlers... but he beat Izzy, the champion. Simple as that lil guy.

No one can stand striker with alex in LHW
@lucasfernandes2099 Жыл бұрын
If the goal was really make a fight between Alex and Izzy it would be more easy to do the 3 MMA fight, not bring the guy to LHW to do later, makes no sense. Other thing, the guy doesn't rely on his power, that's nonsense, he beated Strickland, Izzy and Jan only with power?? People dont take the time to really watch his fights and make a solid analysis, they just repeat what they heard, that's shameful, even more to a UFC fighter who was double champion 🤦🏻 Last, he is not being fasttracked, otherwise he wouldn't pass these big top 4, top 3 and Champion, he would get mauled 🤷🏻 If a fighter has what it takes to beat the top fighters in the organization, he is not being favored, he is where he suposed to be.
@Obiodum_ Жыл бұрын
Why would they do a third MMA fight at 185 when Pereira has made it abundantly clear that he was going to move up to 205 after their most recent fight? It makes sense for the fight to be at 205 IF Pereira becomes champion. Otherwise, if he wants to fight Israel at 185, he needs to fight the other contenders first before they fight again. He did get fast tracked to a title shot. He never faced any of the top 5 in Middleweight.
@lucasfernandes2099 Жыл бұрын
@@Obiodum_ that was Dana White, he demand that from him, at some point he even ask for a 3 fight against Izzy, but they stayed in silence, Dana and Izzy.
