You are a fantastic storyteller! I would like to listen to you, narrating the ancient Greek Myths, all day long. Pity I have stuff to do, otherwise I will stay here and dream about those horrific situations...

Watching this for a summer-school project. Decided to do Hephaestus since most of the other more well known gods where taken, do not regret one bit. This guy has a really interesting story, might be one of my favorite Greek gods now!

Great video! As far as ancient robotics went Heron of Alexandria wrote about automata. I wonder if the engineers of the ancient world were inspired to create these designs based on Greek mythology. Considering Heron was Hellenic that seems almost certain.

My perspective on Hephaestus starts with another myth from another culture. The Curse of Adam and Eve is that man must produce and women reproduce. The male energy is fundamentally focused on production, the application of skill, will, knowledge, and time to create wealth and resources, but these can also be taken through war. Hephaestus can be seen as the god of production married to Aphrodite, who embodies woman as the reproducer, the end goal of Beauty and Eros (union). However, Man the producer is not as glorious as Man the warrior, so we have Ares, the god of war who acquires resources through conquest rather than production. The love triangle of Hephaestus, Aphrodite, and Ares seems to illustrate this. In modern parlance, Ares is the alpha male and Hephaestus is the beta with the woman torn choosing between the two. Does she want the cool bad boy or the dependable producer? Hephaestus is probably the least popular of the Divines, both in the myths and today. He is the god of the common man, the factory worker, the tradesman, or the downtrodden office slave doing the mundane day in day out labour just to make ends meet. He is portrayed as ugly, dirty, lame, and at times pathetic, and yet he is a key figure in many myths because of what he produces. There are those who take labour for granted but without them there would be no story.

I woke up this morning thinking about who is the Greek God of my birth month of August? I'm a 20yr Navy Vet. who has travel around the world been to 6 of the 7 continents & 6 of the 7 seas and I don't like the fact that I see young men of ages 6-30 yrs with a lot of let's say feminine qualities. I wanted to find my greek god so I can tell my grandsons the story and tell the story of their greek god of their birth month and have t-shirts made for them to show pride in being young men & to show and let them know it's good to be masculine. Thank you Tiny Epics.

How did hepphesetis cut Zeus head open to give birth to Athena if she was born first?( Hera gave birth to him because she was jealous of Athena’s birth ? But he was the one that deal the head open for Athena to be born ?

Simple. Because there are different versions of the myths composed at different times throughout history. There is no such thing as canon when it comes to mythology.

Excuse my ignorance, but I m not an English speaking man. What does it mean AIA agent? Beside that question I have to express my surprise, because I've never heard that Pandora originally was thought as a kind of Authoma before. Please tell us more - in other words - tell us all you know about it + your own considerations on the topic...

Excuse me more: "Automaton"was the correct term... "Automa "is something from the Age of Enlightenment around the XVIII century AD :I m afraid it is the wrong time frame reference...

This was one of my sources: Like the tale of Talos, the Pandora myth is an example of ancient science fiction, imagining how gods might fabricate marvelous beings by means of what we might call in ancient Greek biotechne, or "life through craft." Both Talos and Pandora were described by Hesiod as “made, not born.” The phrase distinguishes them from biological beings reproduced naturally and categorizes them as artificial. They were not inert objects brought to life by magic or divine fiat. Instead, the crafted nature of Talos and Pandora stands out in ancient writings and vase paintings. They were imagined as artifacts of technology, constructed by Hephaestus using familiar tools, materials, and methods. 8In Works and Days (53-105) Hesiod relates the details of Pandora's fabrication. Zeus decides to take revenge on humans for accepting the technology of fire stolen from the gods. Notably, Hesiod says Zeus "crafts" his plan. He commands Hephaestus to construct "Evil disguised as Beauty" in the form of a desirable young woman. This replicant will be sent down to earth as a dolos, a trap, carrying a sealed jar filled with eternal misery and suffering for humanity. Once she arrives among mortals her only mission is to open the jar. 9Pandora was not summoned into existence by magic or by Zeus’ fiat, but planned, designed, and constructed in the forge of the blacksmith god. Hesiod describes Pandora was a beguiling artifice designed to carry out a specific mission in the human realm. Notably, Homer's description of Hephaestus’ golden female servants and Hesiod's description of the female android Pandora are remarkably similar. Hephaestus, following Zeus's orders, creates a "manufactured maiden." Through repetition of the words "likeness" and "representation" in his poem, Hesiod tells us that Pandora is not a natural woman but a "constructed thing." journals.openedition.org/ephaistos/10885#:~:text=The%20bronze%20robot%20Talos%20and,vase%20paintings%20and%20other%20art.

Hepaestus is the son of Poseidon and Ceres or Demeter. So is Ares. Poseidon is the Hindu Shiva, and Ceres is Parvati. Ares is Kartikeya and Hepaestus is Ganesh. That is the truth.
