Who is the bad Valentine? Every good story is about development of the characters, preferably with a twist or realization on the way. While in the beginning it sounds like Angelina as the protagonist is cold and bad, we find out as we listen that it is not the case. She wants passion, fire and honesty. He is insincere, dispassionate and somewhat self absorbed - sees/hears only what he wants to see and hear, therefore will never really know her. If all passion is lost on his world, who is the bad Valentine? Angelina is an outstanding story teller. Don't expect to get the whole story from the first verse. I always essume an unfolding tale and allow myself to be taken on her journey. Gary

Fergie, Demi Lovato, John Legend and Beyonce were established artists. Also remember that he helped cowrite the songs. They aren’t just his songs and from what Ive read, If I Were a Boy seemed to be primarily BC Jean. In fact she wasn’t really happy at first when she found out Beyoncé was recording the songs. Her original intent was not to give away the songs they wrote together.

The song has two parts: first, she admits to her bad behaviour and is almost apologetic; but later, she explains the reasons behind it. The song portrays a passionate woman wanting a genuine relationship with a man she hoped would be her equal. However, he sees her as an idealized version of herself, twisting her actions to fit his fantasy. ​ understand your love for Amy. It's just that I have seen MANY live performances of Amy where she is singing off key, or flat, usually drunk or wasted. You will NEVER find any such recording of Angelina. Amy KNEW drugs and alcohol were bad/destructive. What? Had she never heard of Janis Joplin? Jimi Hendrix? Jim Morrison? Whitney Houston? ALL of these people destroyed their lives and careers with substance abuse. And don't give me sob stories about "demons" or such. There are SOOOO many (bad) examples gone before to know to STAY AWAY from drugs and booze. She was self-destructive and foolish. But I'm sure lecherous people took advantage. But there are plenty of good examples she could have followed and CHOSE to "party" and ignore wisdom. She would have been MUCH better had she kept herself clean. Angelina is at the opposite end of the spectrum from Amy. Thank God. I hope God keeps the wolves away from Angelina. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I've seen numerous live performances of Amy Winehouse where she's singing off key and slurring her words the complete opposite of Angelina in every way.
