Before I reverted to Islam I was in a long term relationship with a girl who was also not a Muslim. I reverted in 2004. She would not revert (which was her right) but I made it clear that I could not be with her. She was still willing to marry me but to me it was not acceptable. I walked away from the relationship for the sake of Allah. What we know for certain is that Hazrat Aisha (RA) was the daughter of Abu Bakr Siddiq, the prophet’s best friend and companion by the way (make of this info what you will). The age of Hazrat Aisha can be EASILY calculated from the age of her elder sister, Hazrat Asma, who was 10 years older than Hazrat Aisha. In his biography of narrators (Asma ur Rijal), Waliuddin Muhammad Abdullah Al-Khateeb al Amri Tabrizi, the famous author of Mishkath, writes that Hazrat Asma died in the year 73 Hijri at the age of 100, ten or twelve days after the martyrdom of her son, Abdullah Ibn Zubair. It is common knowledge that the Islamic calendar starts from the year of the Hijrah, or the Prophet’s migration from Mecca to Medina. Therefore, by deducting 73, the year of Hazrat Asma’s death, from 100, her age at the time of death, we can easily conclude that Hazrat Asma was 27 years old during Hijra. This, factually, puts the age of Hazrat Aisha at 17 years during the same period. As all biographers of the Prophet agree that the mariage between prophet Muhammad PBUH and his wife, Hazrat Aisha, was consummated in the year 2 Hijri, we can conclusively and unequivocally state that Hazrat Aisha was 19 years old at that time, and not 9 as alleged in the aforementioned speculations.

Here is the problem. People that are born into muslim families, automatically assume that they are muslim. This is a huge misconception for our Ummah. Being a Muslim is a way of life, practice, belief and performing required tasks (Salah, Quran, Sawm, Donation and so on).
