Wish I could do stuff like this with my wife and son. My wife has cancer again. The first time while pregnant with my son six years ago. We found out during the final month of the pregnancy. They had to deliver him early and put her port in at the same time. It was the most joyful and terrifying time of our lives. The cancer came back a year ago and we've been fighting it ever since. I love your videos. it helps to imagine us one day getting back to some form of normalcy. Thanks for the videos and best of luck with your family and Willis.

That first pool your fishing I would use a nymph rig with a dropper. See what nymph flies are doing best in the area. A nymph is a wet fly that is usually weighted with a tungsten bead, lead wire and or both. Tie one nymph then add 10” to 16” of fluorocarbon leader(3x to 6x) then tie the leader to the next nymph (on the bend of the hook). Then tie that fly to your main leader. You want to feel the fly ticking the bottom. If your not losing flies your not fishing deep enough. You can add split shot to make it go deeper in the water column. You can do a European style nymph rig which is a special colored line, no indicator or you can use a normal rig set up with an indicator. Work your way from the shore out. After each drift you will go further out. Can do a couple drifts until you move to the next. In that fast water the trout will be on the bottom, the current is slower there. Hitting the bottom with your flies is a key component as said before. Keeping a tight line and keeping the line off of the water is key. If using an indicator watch it very closely, if it makes any different movement other than the current moving it set the hook. Fish the seems where fast and slower water meet. After getting experience try to go for the faster water, takes more technique. After you fish an area with your rod fully extended, take a couple steps downstream and your fishing new water if you didn’t have any bites. There is a learning curve to it like most things in life. Just have patience. I love fly fishing. Keep the videos coming!

Fabulous FIRSTs! I have to tell you... I live in northern Colorado, and have never caught (or fished for) kokanee, so I looked up the closest mountain kokanee fishery to me (Chambers Lake) and went there yesterday. Long story short, I caught no kokanee, but I did catch my FIRST ever lake trout, 18" and 19"ers! Gorgeous fish, though surprisingly docile for big trout. Thanks for the inspiration!

Love the video! Just when you’re fishing a stream/river cast up stream because the fish are looking up stream for food floating down to them in those pools. Since they are facing up stream they will not see you if you cast up in front of them upstream and bring the bait down to them. Keep doing what you’re doing! Great looking fish!

Exactly. I had great luck in Wyoming in deep fast/rolling water casting up stream. I reeled fast and when the panther martin reached me it obviously stopped and was spinning real good and bam. I caught my limit in less than 30 minutes. Now having said that I did catch some where water was pooling up in a calmer setting. I also learned to sneak up on trout if the water is really clear and shallow. Loved this video as it really brought back fond memories. Just awesome!
