My wife Stephanie is learning how to fly fish for the fish time and caught her first rainbow trout on by herself using a fly rod. We went fishing for bigger tout in some ponds and streams but were cut short with out fly rod.

fly fishing is actually really easy. its a common misconception that its hard to do. fly fishing is the only way ive been a successful fisherman. spincast and jigs i cant catch a damn thing.

Every year camping I make biscuits n gravy. It's been a family tradition. I use pretty much the same Dutch oven n Bisquick n of course gravy from scratch n add any ground sausage. I bring bacon fat to start it but u can use any gravy u like?? It's the only time a year I eat it. It takes a while to make but so homey n yum. Congrats Steph on ur fly fish👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💪🏼🎣❤️

LFG I used to go camping all the time when I was younger like I seriously would go 4 or 5 days out of 7 days!! I absolutely loved camp cooking!! I loved to make breakfast pizza, cobbler, biscuits & sausage gravy, & lots lots more delicious camp foods!! I think everyone loved my breakfast pizza the best from all the feed back from everyone!! But it’s been so long since I’ve even been out camping let alone do any camp cooking!! I guess I’ve just been so busy & haven’t made time to go camping!! I’m definitely going to have to make time to get out & go camping again!!!

YMMV, but when I broke the tip off my 7-foot 3-weight I just sawed it off right above the top remaining line guide and kept on fishing. Didn't drastically hurt the action, and I caught a lot of fish that way. Never give up, never surrender!

Been watching this series on both channels and have really enjoyed it. Beautiful scenery. Those Mr Heaters are AWESOME! My heater was this only way I could get my wife out in the woods for the first time. That and coffee in a thermos from the night before! Her dad was like, "wait, you went camping?" haha! If you want some great cast iron, dutch oven cooking tips and tricks, Cowboy Kent Rollins is great. Rotating the oven around while cooking can prevent the burn spots, etc without counting coals. keep up the great videos!

LFG & OSG i once seen this "save the day" temp fix for a broken tip or guide! keep one or a few saftey pins in your gear box and a roll of tape! Just bend that back spring part 90 degrees and tape to the broken part of the rod and you have a TEMP eyelet/guide! if no tape then bend safety pin, and wrap piece of line around it and at least the rod is still usable! I was just learning to FLY fish back when i was a teen 35+ years ago from my Dad when he passed away and haven't touched a fly pole since. I just got back into Trout/Bass Fishing as an adult 2 years ago and watching/enjoying your vids i REALLY want to save up and get a fly pole and try it again! Ive was saving for a baitcaster as I've never used one and only own couple spinning reels! Thank You for your awesome vids you two!

One thing we do in Idaho is look up the stocking records for alpine lakes. Keeps you from fishing unproductive (virtually fishless) lakes. But I'm always excited to see people excited about fly fishing :)

FYI Justin, Those type of water filters no longer filter water safely after they have froze. If temperature is expected to get near freezing put the filter in a ziplock and throw it in the foot of your sleeping bag to keep it warm. They have to be thrown away after they freeze and replaced. Even if there is a remote chance it may have even partially froze.

I just picked up a fly-rod after years of using an ultra-light spinning rod for everything, and I have gone through some of the same problems, but don't give up only practice will turn you into a good fly-fisherman. Keep up the good work, and go West Virginia!

A great way to learn how to feel the loading of the fly rod is to put about 25 feet of line outside the tip and false cast the rod back and forth...you'll be able to feel that rod load up and yall will be able to get your fwd. cast down pat

Keep your water filtration in the tent with you and prevent from freezing. When the system freezes it can crack the containment which then allows the contaminants to bypass the filter and you essentially drink unfiltered water and can get sick.

On the dutch oven rotate the oven a 1/4 of a turn and the lid the opposite way a 1/4 of a turn, helps to regulate the heat . cinnamon rolls looked awesome
